Recreational facilities in Spotsylvania County
include White Buffalo Horse Farm, Legion Field & Track, 6 Community
Centers, 10 Parks, and public elementary, middle, and high schools in
Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania. The parks, ranging in size from 5 to 208
acres, collectively feature baseball/softball, football, soccer and
multi-purpose fields (some lighted), basketball & tennis courts (some
lighted), playgrounds, walking trails, and picnic shelters. Features unique to
specific parks include combination bike/walking trails at Harrison Road
Convenience Center
Park and an amphitheater
(200 in Seats & Unlimited Grass Seating) at Patriot Park.
Loriella Park, the county's largest, also offers
a swimming pool, nature trails, open play areas, and a disc golf course.
Recreation classes, all held at Marshall Center inside Marshall Park (except
for horseback riding, Tang Soo Do Karate, Babysitter's Training Course &
Keep it Green Herbal), include Gymfun Tumbling & Gymnastics/Movement, Keep
It Green Herbal (Lifestyle, Spring Detox, Organic Gardening), The Creative Side
(Craft, Drawing, Painting), Young Chef's Academy (Cooks and Books, National
Pickle Week Workshop), Spotsylvania Illusions, AARP Drivers Safety Program, and
Thursday Night Ballroom Basic Steps & Review. The American Red Cross Office
hosts the Babysitter's Training Course, the Keep It Green Herbal classes meet
at 609 Jett St
in Fredericksburg,
Tang Soo Do Karate is held in the Salem Elementary School Gym, and Horseback
Riding Classes are held at White Buffalo Horse Farm. Special events, all hosted
by the Marshall Center, include Children's Art Show
(Creative Side, Inc), Stonewall Jackson 20-Mile Ambulance Run, and Summer Camps
("Super Science in the Summer", KidsFit Summer Fun). Baseball fans
can participate in The Nationals vs. Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Trip, which
heads to Nationals
Park for the game.
