Calvert County offers a variety of programs, activities, and events for all ages. Facilities and program locations include Kings Landing Pool, Cove Point Pool, Northeast Community Center (4075 Gordon Stinnett Ave, Box 1360, Chesapeake Beach, 410-257-2554), North Beach Community Center (4th St & Dayton Ave, North Beach, 410-257-4344 or 0363), Mt Hope Community Center, 104 Pushaw Station Rd, Box 260, Sunderland, 410-257-6770 or 7761), Southern Community Center, 20 Appeal Lane, Lusby, 410-586-1101), Chesapeake Hills Golf Course, Breezy Point Beach & Campground, Calvert School of Dance, Diane Herbert Dance Studio, House of Dance-Dance Studio, Dunkirk District Park, Hallowing Point Park, Calvert Country School, Prince Frederick public library, Grand Earth Kung Fu & Tai Chi School, and various local public elementary and middle schools. Recreation programs include teen/adult classes, such as arts/crafts (cake decoration, painting, calligraphy, digital scrapbooking, interior decorating), dance (ballroom, country line, jitterbug/swing, r & b line dance, salsa), German & French languages, fitness/aerobics/jazzercise, yoga. kitchen band club (age 50 & up), bridge club, Chesapeake gem, mineral & carving club, puppy/dog obedience, knitting, home maintenance; youth and/or family programs, including sports, dance (tap & ballet, boppin' babies, hip hop/jazz, creative movement), game time, music jam sessions, teen house, family fun Saturdays, school break and summer camps for children ages 3-15, drop-in parent/child playgroups, music (family music for babies/toddlers, cycle of the seasons, musik garten, Music Together ™ Chesapeake), mad science, Spanish through song, Algebra fundamentals (gr. 9-12), English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL, age 10 & up), and activities for all ages, such as gymnastics (age 5 & up), fencing (age 5 & up), private dance lessons, belly dance, swimming lessons, billiards (age 10 & up), Xbox 360 (age 6 & up), table tennis (age 10 & up), sign language (age 6 & up), martial arts, music (guitar lessons), square dance (pre-teen & up). Workshops offered for adults include Homebuyer Seminar, Small Business Preparedness, Upgrade your Resume, and Reverse Mortgage Seminar. Therapeutic recreation programs include summer camp, wheelchair basketball, and workshops (managing the angry child, social skills for children with ADHD or Asperger's). Various special events are held throughout the year, such as Family Wellness Expo and Spring Fling. Senior programs/events include bingo and an Easter egg hunt.

Chesapeake Beach Recreation Calvert County Parks and Recreation

Recreation facilities in Chesapeake Beach include Calvert County-run Northeast Community Center, 410-257-2554, which features a gym, game room, and meeting rooms. The private Beach Buccaneers Youth Club (P.O. Box 462) offers Basketball, Football, Lacrosse, Cheerleading & Poms Leagues, registrations are held at Northeast Community Center.
