Lynnwood

Recreation programs in Lynnwood include aquatics, sports, dance and fitness. Recreational facilities include Lynnwood Recreation Center, which houses a 25-Yard 6-lane Short Course Indoor/Outdoor Swimming Pool, Wading Pool, Hydrotherapy Pool and Sauna, Racquetball Courts, Tot Play Structure, Activity and Meeting Rooms, Weight/Exercise Room, Wallyball and Public Art. The pool offers facilities for lap swimming, swim team, water aerobics, swimming lessons, and recreational swimming, when swimmers have access to a diving board, water slide, and rope swing play equipment. The shallow water (wading) pool, with maximum depth of 2 1/2 feet, has a long stairway entrance for easy entrance and features various tiled sea creatures on the floor. The Hydrotherapy Pool
(hot tub) seats up to 12 people at a time, with a water temperature generally kept at 104°. The Sauna, electrically heated, seats up to 16 people. Pool admission is by single use fee or by access pass for 10 visits (family swim-single use fee only), with discounted rates for Infant/Toddler, Youth, Seniors & Disabled individuals. The Lynnwood Swim School provides group and individual swim and dive lessons for all ages and skill levels (from beginning through competition). Lynnwood Aquatics provides fitness programs for adults, including aerobics, fitness swimming, water walking, and therapy sessions. The Aquatic Volunteer Program offers teens a chance to learn what it takes to be a lifeguard or swim instructor, with service hours available to fulfill school requirements, as well as on-the-job training. The Aquatics program also helps with merit badge testing, float testing for boating classes, and camp swim tests. Extreme Stroke Technique class (high school age & up) helps competitive/fitness swimmers improve stroke technique and mechanics. American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor Classes, open to age 15 & up/16 & up, respectively (after passing a basic swim test) certifies lifeguards/water safety (swim) instructors. Athletic programs include Gym Sports (Volleyball, basketball, pickleball), Adult Softball Leagues, and youth sports camps (basketball, cheerleading, roller hockey, soccer) in conjunction with Skyhawks Sports Academy. Open Gym for Volleyball, Basketball, & Pickleball is available at Cedar Valley Community School Gym, 19400 56th Ave W, 425- 771-4030, for Youth, Adults & Seniors. Got Play? offers swimming, racquetball, and wallyball, available on a first-come, first-served basis (swimming limited to available upon a first-come, first-served basis) to home-schooled children and their families, as well as the Weight Room (age 14 & up with an orientation session before use). Youth and teen school break and summer camps offer general recreational, adventure and sports programs. Discovery Programs/Beach Rangers, 425-771-0227, offers a new reading primer for grades 1-3 about Penny's adventures in Puget Sound; the 2-part Marine Education program for grades K-12 that includes first a Ranger-Naturalist's one hour classroom visit, then a visit to an Edmonds beach for a 1-hour guided low tide beach walk with a Ranger-Naturalist; "Discover the Forest", a Ranger-Naturalist guided 90-minute outdoor environmental education program, primarily for grades K-6, along the Shell Creek Nature Trail at 48 acre Yost Park in Edmonds; Birds Are Awesome!, for grades K-6, a classroom program featuring a visit from a Bird Naturalist with Edmonds Discovery Programs that includes a PowerPoint slide presentation and age-appropriate, hands-on activities. Outdoor recreational facilities in Edmonds include playfields, parks and beaches, which collectively feature athletic fields (soccer, softball), basketball & tennis courts, play equipment, public art displays, picnic areas, trails/pathways, wildlife areas and public restrooms. Lynndale Skate Park offers the community's one skate area and Yost Memorial Park houses the city pool. Marina Beach offers a marine sanctuary and a kite flying field. Edmonds Fishing Pier is the town's public fishing area. Brackett's Landing Park, a historic site which has been declared a marine sanctuary, offers views of the Olympic Mountains, Mt. Baker in the North Cascades and the waters of Puget Sound and features interpretive information, public restrooms, showers and paths that lead to a wheelchair accessible jetty. 27 acre Underwater Park, adjacent to Brackett's Landing Park, is also a marine preserve and sanctuary and has facilities for scuba divers seeking certification, including 27 acres of tide and bottom lands, the park's original feature, the "De Lion Dry Dock," which is over 300 feet long and was sunk in 1935, providing a haven for schools of fish and other extraordinary plant and invertebrate life, eight other major structures underwater and many trails that provide opportunities for divers.

Recreational facilities in Marysville include community and neighborhood parks, which collectively feature playgrounds/play structures, picnic areas/facilities, basketball courts (1 full court, the rest half-court), grassy play areas, nature trails and walking trails. Foothills Park features a rolling landscape and a tiered and landscaped detention pond. Northpointe Park offers a small athletic field and extensive natural areas for habitat viewing. Northpointe East Park includes a soccer kick wall and will soon an extensive trail. Verda Ridge Park's playground includes a Big Toy play structure and Tuscany Ridge Park's playground offers a climb-aboard pirate ship. Youth Peace Park, designed by students from the Marysville Middle School Leadership/Life Skills class, features a gravel path in the shape of an enormous peace sign, a climbing wall, swings and picnic areas. Harborview Park features a youth soccer field and offers parking. Deering Wildflower Acres Park, granted to the City by Western Washington University and the Nature Conservancy, under condition that it be preserved in its natural state "for scientific, educational and aesthetic purposes", features an extensive trail system through ponds and wetlands. 2.6 acre Comeford Park, 514 Delta Ave, houses the Ken Baxter Senior/Community Center, features a gazebo and hosts several community events, such as the annual Marysville Strawberry Festival. 51 acre Jennings Memorial Park & Jennings Nature Park, adjacent to a 17-acre wetland observatory, houses Jennings Park Barn, Gehl House Museum, a WSU master garden and compost demonstration site, Rotary Ranch Petting Zoo, Lions Centennial Pavilion and Jennings Dinosaur Park, which includes a Pterydactyl swing, and ride-on prehistoric beasties Barney, the Tyrannosaurus Rex; a Triceratops and a baby Brontosaurus. The Jennings Memorial Park section also features softball fields. Recreational programs are available for all ages. Ken Baxter Senior/Community Center hosts a variety of classes for all ages, including arts & crafts, dance, martial arts, drama/theater, yoga, conversational Spanish, Swedish language and Hypnotherapy (for adults-Weight Loss, Smoking Cessation). Jones & Company Pets, 1340 State Ave, sponsors a dog obedience class for dogs 4 months & older and their owners. Marysville Middle School hosts Jazzercise, as well as an After School Activities Program (A.S.A.P.) for Marysville Middle School students, both programs meet in the cafeteria. Modern Square Dance class meets at Totem Middle School Cafeteria, Cedarcrest Gym hosts youth basketball; Strawberry Lanes, 1067 Columbia Ave, offers a beginning bowling class for children/teens, and Northwest Dance & Acro, 5200 172nd St NE, Suite 104, offers ballroom dance for older teens & adults. with tree lined fairways, small undulating greens and water features on four
holes. The course offers annual golf passes and banquet room rentals. The main
recreational facility is the Recreation Pavilion, a Community Center that
features an indoor swimming pool, Indoor Playground, racquetball courts, gym,
spa, sauna, espresso stand, and rental facilities. The pool features
Handicapped Access Ramp & water wheelchair, Spa, Sauna, Lazy River with
moving current, Shallow-water Leisure Pool with beach-like entry and padded
floor, Plumbed-in spray toys, Water Basketball hoops and a variety of floats
and water toys; and offers Swimming Lessons, Water Fitness Classes and
Recreation & Leisure Swims. Dance programs for all ages include Baby Dance,
Tiny Twinkle Toes/ Parent Toddler, Creative Dance, Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Tap,
Jazz, Hip-Hop, Irish Dance, Hula, Bellydance - Egyptian Style, Yoga,
Yoga/Pilates, Cardio-Kick and Balance Ball Workout. Fitness classes also
include Yoga, Pilates, Cardio-Kick and Balance Ball Workout, as well as Senior
Fitness/Silver Sneakers, Water Walk, Senior Water Exercise and Arthritis
Aquatic Program. Sports programs include racquetball, basketball, softball and

The American Red Cross offers several classes, including Lifeguarding,
GuardStar, Babysitter's Training Course and Babysitter's Training Course Plus
(includes Child & Infant CPR and First Aid). Recreation Pavilion's Indoor
Playground, for toddlers through age 5, offers a play house, tree house, balls,
slides and crawler's corner. The Terrific Twos, Playground Pals and Playschool
Co-Op programs all include 1/2 hour in the Indoor Playground. The Preschool,
Kindergarten Readiness and Junior Kids Krew programs offer activities such as
art, movement, dramatic play, language, hands-on math and science, arts and
craft, community field trips, and enrichment including dance and/or swimming.
School age children can participate in Kids Krew, a before & after school
program for children ages 5-12 that is held at the Mountlake Terrace Pavilion,
Madrona, and Evergreen schools and serves Evergreen, Maplewood, Madrona,
Terrace Park, Mountlake Terrace, Sherwood and Woodway elementary schools. A
variety of weekly summer camps are offered for children ages 3 to 15, including
Junior Kids Krew Camp for ages 3-5, Navigators Camp for grades 2-6, Teen
Navigators Camp for ages 12-17 and specialty camps such as aquatics (Aqua Kids

Legion Memorial Park features a Veteran's memorial sponsored by the American Legion. 1000 feet long River Crest Trail features a gravel trail in a scenic natural area overlooking Portage Creek. The Rockery is a flower garden adjacent to the Centennial Trail. Terrace Park features mature fir and cedar trees and large rhododendrons and houses an amphitheater & stage that hosts old time movies in July and Music in the Park in August. Twin Rivers Park houses Arlington Rotary Disc Golf Course and features a beach, public fishing access at the confluence of the North and South forks of the Stillaguamish River, large cottonwood forest and a county maintained trail. 2,000 feet long Zimmerman Hill Climb features a stair climb on a very steep hill lined with naturalized shrubs and trees connecting to an asphalt path.

Recreational facilities in Mukilteo include Rosehill Community Center, Mukilteo Lighthouse Park, Centennial Park and about 498 acres of parks and open spaces. 18,276 square foot Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave, offers rental space for recreational, civic, social and business activities and features an indoor gym used for theater events and grounds including outdoor tennis courts and open spaces for special events such as the annual Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival. Mukilteo Lighthouse Park, 609 Front St, which was constructed on a filled tideland, provides year round public beach access, houses the historical Mukilteo Light Station, available for tours and special events, and offers recreational fire pits at Lighthouse Park. Port of Everett Fishing Pier is nearby at 700 Front St. Centennial Park, 1126 - 5th St, features the Japanese Gulch Memorial (an origami crane), which was commissioned and financed by the Mukilteo Historical Society.

Monroe Parks

The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department operates and maintains 317 acres of parks and open space as well as a 12 mile trail system consisting of both soft and hard surfaces. Free recreation programs for Monroe residents are available at the new Monroe/Sky Valley YMCA, 14033 Fryelands Blvd, 360-805-1879, including Family Night (Fridays), Family Swim (Sunday afternoons), Senior Fitness/Health (10-11 AM TTH), Teen Night (Saturday, 7-11 PM) and Water Aerobics (9-10 AM MW). A computer area, adventure zone, pool & aquatics center are available to participants in these programs (not all facilities for each program). Recreation facilities in Monroe include a network of recreational trails, currently about 11 miles of recreational trails, mostly in the western areas of the City, with about another 5 miles of trails planned for the near future, and eventual plans to connect the entire City. In addition, 10 community and neighborhood parks and the Fairgrounds Education Wetlands provide recreational opportunities. The parks collectively feature children's play areas/equipment, picnic areas/shelters/barbecues, basketball courts, baseball and soccer fields, restrooms, concession buildings and parking areas. Al Borlin Park, located on a peninsula formed by the Skykomish River and Woods Creek, is a thickly wooded natural park that is crisscrossed with a network of trails and features a landscaped picnic area accessible from a pedestrian bridge from Lewis Street Park. A gravel road along the eastern edge provides river access for fishing and other activities. Lake Tye Community Park offers a non-guarded swimming beach and pedestrian boat launch, restroom and concession building, tennis courts, fand parking for around 150 vehicles. Lewis Street Park features century-old cedar trees. Skykomish River Park features a mile long perimeter trail. Travelers' Park hosts the annual Art in the Park celebration in August and features a one-acre grove of young and mature conifers. Fairgrounds Education Wetlands is an undeveloped 47-acre conservation area that will offer a nature trail.

Lake Stevens

Recreational facilities in Lake Stevens include Lake Stevens High School Pool, Lake Stevens Boys & Girls Club, Lake Stevens Family Center, Catherine Creek Park, Centennial Trail, Centennial Woods, Eagle Ridge Park, Kids Oasis, Mill Cove Reserve, North Cove Park, Swim Beach and Lake Stevens Boat Launch. Catherine Creek Park features a network of gravel trails in a tall stand of conifers and houses an 18-hole disk golf course. 7.5 mile Centennial Trail offers facilities for walking, running and bicycling, as well as a separate equestrian path for horses. 6.5 acre Centennial Woods, adjacent to Centennial Trail, features gravel pedestrian trails between Centennial Trail and Catherine Creek Park around the wetlands, now re-grown with cedar, hemlock, maple and ferns. 15.6 acre Eagle Ridge Park is a passive recreation nature reserve, with planned improvements to include trails, benches, interpretive signs and viewing platforms. Kids Oasis, at Mt. Pilchuck Elementary School, is used year round. North Cove Park features a boardwalk with views of the lake. 1-acre Mill Cove Reserve is mostly wetlands, with planned improvements to include a boardwalk leading from Main Street to the waters' edge, with benches and interpretive signs. Lake Stevens City Boat Launch is one of the two public launches on the entire lake and features a new handicap accessible dock and a low profile dock to accommodate rowing shells. The Swim Beach features a designated swimming area, dock and plenty of sand for sunbathing. Recreation programs include aquatics at Lake Stevens High School Pool, 2903 113th Ave NE, 425-335-1526, which is open to the public after school hours for open swim, lap swim, family swim, water aerobics, deep water hydro fit and swim lessons. General admission rates or punch card pass apply, with separate rates for adults, seniors, youth/disabled, district employees and families. Recreational facilities in Snohomish include 8 parks and a gazebo, which collectively feature Play Structures, Play Fields, Picnic Facilities, BBQs, Boat Launches, Walking Areas, Visual Outlooks, Basketball Courts and Rest Rooms. Hill Park also offers Fishing Docks, Ferguson features Disk Golf and Pilchuck Park includes Soccer & Baseball Fields and Tennis Courts. Averill Youth Complex houses a Skate Park, Everett Olsen Youth Center, which is run by the Boys & Girls Club of Snohomish County, a Tot Lot and Hal Moe Pool (closed for repairs until further notice). Centennial Trail is a recreational walking, bicycling, hiking and horseback riding trail that connects Snohomish, Lake Stevens, Arlington and points in between. Recreational programs include the school district's community schools program offerings, such as yoga, family martial arts (age 5 & u p), tap & ballet (ages 6-12) and gymnastics (ages 6-12) classes at various school facilities The Snohomish Senior Center (temporarily housed in the lower level of St. Michael's Church, 1514 Pine Ave) hosts art and ceramics classes, woodcarving, quilting, travel, a foot care clinic, bingo, chess, checkers and board games, cribbage, pinochle, bridge, and poker, exercise and walking groups, movie matinees, online computers, a lunch program on Tuesdays and Thursdays, monthly potlucks, birthday parties and a variety of entertainment.

The master plan for Bobcat Park calls for a New Play Area, Restrooms, Trail, Picnic Area, Upgraded Racquetball Court, Landscaping, Rookery and Grassy Play Area. Brier Park's master plan includes Sports Fields (Softball, Baseball, Football, Soccer), Tennis Courts, Tot Lot, Paved Plaza, Lawn Bowl/Horseshoes, Ampitheater, Skate Park and Picnic Area. Brier Patch Park's plan calls for a Play Structure, Picnic Table and Trash Can. Locust Creek Park's plan includes a Trail, Picnic Meadow, Pond, Wetlands and Forest. City Light Woods, owned by Seattle City Light, and leased by The City of Brier yearly, is a passive park with a thick forest setting that is used as an outdoor class room for students at nearby Brier Elementary School.
