Recreational facilities in Seattle include parks, playfields, playgrounds and greenbelts. The facilities collectively feature Children's Play Areas, Picnic Tables and/or Shelters, Tennis Courts, Basketball Hoops/Courts, Boat Ramps & Launches, Wading Pools, Swimming Pools, Woods, Trails & Paths, Waterfront, Beaches, Off Leash Dog Areas, Running/Jogging Tracks, Community/P-Patch Gardens, Public Art, Scenic Views (Downtown, Puget Sound, Cascade Mountains) and Restrooms. 2 facilities (Denny Blaine Park & Webster Playground) offer a "Pesticide Free" setting. Lawn bowling is featured at Jefferson and Woodland Parks. Jefferson Park also features one of Seattle's 3 18-hole golf courses (the others are located at Jackson and West Seattle Parks, all are operated by Premier Golf). West Seattle Park also features a Stadium; Woodland Park offers Horseshoe Pits and houses a Rose Garden and Zoo. Ballard Commons Park offers a Skate Bowl; Cal Anderson Park features Bobby Morris Playfield and Bar-S Playground houses youth baseball fields. Occidental Square and Westlake Park offer WiFi (wireless internet) facilities. Several parks feature Historic Points of Interest. Belltown Cottage Park houses Historic Cottages. Piers 62 and 63 as well as A. B. Ernst and Waterfront Parks all host special events. East Duwamish Greenbelt offers an Urban Forest; Greenwood Park houses a play area and an open meadow. Cleveland Playfield offers a Bathhouse and Fire Pits. Alki Beach Park also offers Fire Pits and hosts various ceremonies. Carkeek and Seward Parks each house an Environmental Learning Center, Seward Park also features bike and walking path, amphitheater, native plant garden, hiking trails and an art studio. Mineral Springs Park offers a Disc Golf Course. Schmitz Preserve Park features 53 acres of Old Growth Forest. Interbay Athletic Complex offers facilities for golf, including a 9-hole course, driving range, Pro shop with food service and 18-hole mini golf putting course; as well as a 900 seat, sports grass soccer stadium, Little League Baseball, Softball & T-Ball fields and On-site parking. Amy Yee Tennis Center features indoor & outdoor courts and offers junior and adult group lessons, tiny tot programs, junior and adult camps, and adult play. Discovery Park houses the Daybreak Star Cultural Center, which focuses on Native American traditions. Camp Long houses a Nature center, Climbing rock, Cabins, picnic shelters and Pond, and offers nature programs for all ages, including School Programs. Lincoln Park features unlighted ball fields and houses Colman Pool, a heated outdoor, salt water pool open during the summer. Linden Orchard offers a large lawn, P-Patch community garden, new fruit trees, edible landscaping, benches and a picnic table, interactive features for children's play and tool shed. Bradner Gardens Park features 7 ornamental theme gardens of the Master Gardener border: butterfly & hummingbird, fragrance, sensory, shade, xeriscape, winter interest and northwest native, as well as 61 p-patch garden plots, a children’s A to Z garden, Seattle Tilth and Urban Food demonstration gardens, foot bridge and pavilion. 6th Ave NW Pocket Park includes a large lawn area, landscaping, paths, neighborhood gathering area and interactive features for children's play. Volunteer Park features a Conservatory, Asian Art Museum, and Band stand as well as a view of the downtown Water tower with Olmsted Exhibit (south entrance to the park). Other attractions include the Seattle Aquarium, the Seattle Art Museum, which owns and maintains Olympic Sculpture Park, the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center, which offers classes, events and programs throughout the year and the Museum of History and Industry at McCurdy Park. Recreation programs/classes at the 24 community centers and other facilities include youth & adult sports, learn to swim lessons, fitness/aerobics, arts & crafts, computers (at computer labs located inside the community centers) and martial arts. Toddler Programs include free Saturday classes, tot walks at Discovery Park and fee-based classes at the community centers and environmental education centers. 17 community centers offer drop-in play areas for young children and their parents. Additional classes for children include music, dance, gymnastics, jazz, chess, 4H, acting, science workshops, and babysitting training. Some community centers offer before and after school care/recreation programs. The Key Project at Garfield, Rainier Beach and Southwest Community Centers provides elementary school age children with educational and recreational activities, a nutritional snack and a visit to the local library to complete homework. The After School Activities Program (ASAP), a partnership of the Seattle School District and the Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation, is located at each of the school district's middle schools to provide safe, structured after school activities for middle school students. Kidsplace is an after school child care program for low-income families in 10 designated neighborhoods that is held at Ballard, Delridge, Garfield, High Point, Miller, Rainier, Rainier Beach, South Park, Van Asselt, and Yesler community centers and provides homework help/ tutoring, arts and crafts, games, sports, and other recreational activities. Summer sports camps are offered at locations across the city. 4 community centers offer programs for teenagers, including Garfield's Teen Life Center, Green Lake's Teen Program classes, special events, Teen Night Mini’s, and field trips; Loyal Heights' Teen Center "The Loft", special events, classes, and weight room; and Northgate's M.U.S.I.C. program, which offers sports, games, food and road trips. Lifelong Recreation offers fitness and social programs for people age 50 & up throughout the year, including the Northwest Senior Games. People with disabilities can participate in specialized programs/activities such as Special Olympics Sports, Wheelchair basketball teams, Weekend trips, After-school programs and classes, including cooking, dance and aerobics and summer camps.

Recreational facilities in Bellevue include community parks, beach parks, mini parks, sports parks and neighborhood parks, which collectively feature sports fields (baseball, softball, soccer, multi-use, some are lighted), trails, play areas, natural areas, picnic tables/areas, BBQs tennis & basketball courts, flower gardens, restrooms, drinking fountains and parking (on- and/or off-street, some is handicapped accessible). The beach parks also collectively feature swimming facilities, fishing docks/piers, boat houses, kayak rentals and lifeguards on duty. Some facilities are handicapped accessible. Recreational programs offered for all ages include sports, arts & crafts, dance, aquatics, health/fitness, martial arts and special interest/extended learning classes (such as CPR, babysitting training, foreign language and computer). Specialized activities/programs are offered for senior citizens and individuals with special needs. Playgroup, Preschool, PK and Playschool programs are available for youngsters ages 2 1/2-5. "Tiny Treks" offers a nature experience for children ages 2-4. Class/Program Locations include Bellevue Aquatic Center, Crossroads Community Center, Highland Community Center, Kelsey Creek Farm, Northwest Arts Center, North Bellevue Community Center, Robinswood Tennis Center, South Bellevue Community Center, and Bellevue Youth Theater. Bellevue Aquatic Center's facilities include 25 yard Blue Lagoon Pool, which features six lap lanes, a diving tank and a 10-foot slide, and Warm Springs Pool, a therapy and rehab pool (open for public swim) which offers a wheelchair ramp and average water temperature of 91 degrees. Crossroads Community Center is located in Crossroads Park, which also features a Par 3 9-hole chip/putt golf course, horse shoe pit, and jogging path. The community center houses a gym, game rooms, theater room and meeting rooms. Highland Community Center features a gym, multi-purpose rooms, rental facility, and restrooms, supports the City's Specialized Recreation Programs and support services, provides space for community disability groups and adjoins Bellevue Skate Park. Kelsey Creek Farm, located in Kelsey Creek Park, features farm animals and barns. The park also offers barbecue facilities and a Picnic Shelter that can accommodate up to 50 people. Northwest Arts Center focuses on fine and performing arts classes for children, along with fitness programs and family-oriented activities/classes. North Bellevue Community Center's programs and activities, including cultural and performing arts, heath and wellness, human services, drop-in activities, socialization, information and referral and trips/outings, are aimed at senior citizens. Robinswood Community Park features open space, a pond, athletic fields, children's play area barn, animal corral, trails, and a picnic area with 6 tables that can accommodate up to 50 people. The park also houses handicapped accessible Robinswood Tennis Center, which features indoor and outdoor courts, and historic Robinswood House, which provides meeting room space for groups of 3 to 65 and can accommodate up to 125 people inside and 200+ outside for weddings and social events. South Bellevue Community Center offers a trail system and challenge course, and houses the Boys & Girls Club, which offers classes and activities for preschoolers and school age children and youth. Bellevue Youth Theatre houses a performing arts theatre with seating for 100, and offers performing arts classes and activities. Other facilities in Bellevue include sports-oriented parks, such as handicapped accessible Bannerwood Sports Park, which offers a lighted tournament quality baseball stadium, viewing stands, and concession area; Bellevue Golf Course, which offers a clubhouse and driving range, and houses Crossroads Par 3 Golf Course for beginners and those enjoying a short golf game; Interlake and Sammamish High Schools, which each provide a lighted Astroturf football/soccer stadiums, Astroturf baseball field, and softball fields. Nature-oriented facilities include Bellevue Botanical Garden, Mercer Slough Nature Park, Lake Hills Greenbelt and Lewis Creek Park. 36-acre Bellevue Botanical Garden features display gardens, wetlands and woodlands, and facilitates horticultural demonstrations, educational activities and passive recreation. Mercer Slough Nature Park offers 7+ miles of trails, a visitor's center, an environmental education center focusing on freshwater wetland ecology (in partnership with the Pacific Science Center), picnic areas, waterfront, canoe launch, and blueberry farm, which sells fresh seasonal produce. Lake Hills Greenbelt features 3+ miles of trails, picnic areas, non-motorized water access, fishing, waterfront, pea-patch, blueberry farms and seasonal produce stands, and houses a Ranger Station that provides park information and includes interpretive displays, information on park trails, programs, gardening, restrooms, and meeting rooms. Lewis Creek Park houses a visitor center and extensive trail systems, and hosts the Lewis Creek Family Discovery Series, where naturalists lead tours of forest trails and offer lessons on nature-related topics, including: birds of prey, amphibians, native plants and snakes. The park also offers Sunday Dog Walks, free ranger-led dog walks on the trails of Lewis Creek Park. Additional facilities in Bellevue include 20-acre Downtown Park, which features a 1/2 mile promenade, bordered by a double row of shade trees, stepped canal, 240-foot wide waterfall, reflecting pond, 10-acre lawn area, play area and formal gardens; Meadow Wood Park, which offers a preschool play area, hillside slide, tire swing with play platforms, pedestrian loop trail and open lawn area, Tyee Community Gym, remodeled into a full size gym with volleyball and badminton and basketball hoops; Bellevue Marina at Meydenbauer Bay, which offers 2 piers, 25 covered and 28 uncovered moorage slips, a restroom, water spigot to each slip, secured gates at each pier, free hazardous waste disposal for used motor oil, naturally-protected moorage and easy access to downtown Bellevue; and Winters House, a restored historic public building, open for meeting and event rentals that is listed on the National Historic Register and houses the Bellevue Historical Society and the park visitor's center.

undeveloped parks, tot lots, greenbelts, playfields and recreation centers. The
parks and playfields, located in the East Hills, Valley and West Hills sections
of the city, collectively feature Basketball Courts, Playgrounds, Play Fields
(Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Flag Football, Football, Multi-Use), Tennis
Courts, Horseshoe Pits, Trails (Jogging/Walking, Biking), Bike Racks, Public
Art, Picnic Areas/Tables/Shelters (some with water and/or electricity), BBQs,
Benches, Concession Stands, Boat Ramps, Fishing Piers/Areas, Restrooms (some
are portable), Drinking Fountains and Parking. Three skate parks offer skate
bowls, ramps and rails. Canterbury Neighborhood Park offers volleyball and
pickle ball courts, Clark Lake Park features a boardwalk, and Kherson Park
houses a stage. Kaibara Park features a Japanese
garden, Rosebed Park features a Rose garden and
Yangzhou Park offers a Chinese pavilion and garden bench. Lake Meridian Park
offers swimming; its facilities include changing rooms and showers. Mill Creek
Earthworks Park houses an Amphitheater, West Fenwick Park offers handball
courts and Lake Fenwick Park features a disc golf course. Kent Downtown Rotary
Basketball Court offers a Collegiate-size facility; Burlington Green houses a gazebo and offers a recycling display.
Specialized facilities include Grandview Park off Leash Area (City of Seatac), Naden RV Park, Green River
Natural Resources Area, which offers storm water detention/enhanced wetland and
wildlife refuge and 3 observation towers, and Castlereagh
Sister City Park, which has a Symbolic tree (Northern Ireland Sister City
Park). Riverbend Golf Complex features 9- and 18-hole
courses, a club house, changing rooms, restaurants, a driving range, and
miniature golf. Other recreation/cultural facilities include Greater Kent
Historical Society Museum, which houses a Historical home (1908), artifacts,
furniture and public art; Kent Commons, which houses a conditioning/weight

Recreational and cultural programs in Federal Way include summer and school break camps, dance and creative movement classes, aquatics, health and fitness, visual arts and crafts, special interest programs, education (including preschool classes), music, health and fitness, youth and adult sports, programs for the disabled and senior citizen' activities. Classes are held throughout the community at schools and city buildings. Special events, tours and trips are also offered periodically. Recreational and cultural facilities in Federal Way include community and neighborhood parks, pathways, paved and unpaved trails, open space and special use areas, as well as Dumas Bay Centre, a retreat and meeting center which houses Knutzen Family Theatre, and the Federal Way Community Center. The community and neighborhood parks collectively feature lighted and unlighted athletic fields (softball, baseball, soccer, football) playgrounds, tennis & basketball courts, tracks and picnic areas. French Lake Park offers an off leash dog park area. Adelaide Park houses a small horse arena. Celebration Park Sports Complex, in addition to sports fields, offers bleachers, restrooms and concession buildings and parking for nearly 500 cars. Dumas Bay Park offers access (unpaved trails) to sandy beach front of Puget Sound, and interpretive signs for the heron rookery located in the greenbelts. Heritage Woods Park is a protected greenbelt. Lake Killarney Park offers lake front access. Steel Lake Park features a sand volleyball pit, swimming, fishing (April 30- October 31), beach, restroom and concession building, open lawn areas, parking for 100 cars, horseshoe pits (across the street) and small boat launch (canoes, row boats and paddle boats). West Hylebos Wetlands Park, formerly a state park, features a large network of trails through a large wetland system.

The Shoreline Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department maintains the City's 25 parks and provides a variety of recreation, aquatic and cultural programs for all ages, including swimming, sports, dance, aerobics/fitness, karate, self-defense, yoga, dog obedience classes, arts & crafts, music and cooking. Programs for adults (age 18 & up) with disabilities include Adult Community Choices, which focuses on trips to/activities at community locations such as the pool, library, museum, aquarium, zoo, and bowling alley; and Rec Connection, with theme-base sessions including projects, games, guests and field trips. Cooking Club provides individuals age 16 & older hands-on individual instruction in preparing (and eating) healthy dinners together. Special Olympics Basketball, for ages 8 & up, meets on Sunday afternoons. Teen programs include after school activities at Einstein School and Kellogg Middle School, The CENTER and The REC, special events, trips and the gender specific programs Girlz Group and Boys to Men. Tumbling and gymnastics programs are offered for preschool and elementary school age children, and Holiday Break Camp is also offered for elementary school age children. Most recreation programs meet at Richmond Highlands or Spartan Recreation Centers, whose facilities include gyms and class/meeting rooms. Shoreline's parks collectively feature playgrounds, basketball & tennis courts, hiking trails, picnic areas, fishing, baseball & soccer fields, waterfront areas and restrooms. Ridgecrest Park also offers handball courts. Shoreline Pool offers swim lessons, recreational swim (by daily admission fee or pass) and pool party rentals.

Recreational facilities in Renton, maintained and operated by the Renton Parks division, include 28 parks, 12.5 miles of trails, 732 acres of open space, an 18-hole golf course, two lake-front swimming beaches with lifeguards, an aquatic center and a public boat launch. Recent additions to the parks system include Ron Regis Park, a skateboard park, a new Veterans Memorial Park, the extension of Cedar River Trail to the city limits, and the new Cedar River Boathouse on Lake Washington. The parks collectively feature ball fields, basketball & tennis courts, picnic shelters, playgrounds and restrooms. Four parks each house an activity building, as does Maplewood Golf Course. 2 neighborhood centers (Highland and North Highland) offer free after school activities for children age 6 & up. Henry Moses Aquatic Center, located in Cedar River Park, is a seasonal facility that offers swim lessons and features 26-feet high orange and blue water slides, as well as two separate pools, a 9,000-square-foot leisure pool offering a zero-depth entry, wave machine, water spray play area, lazy river, island lagoon, two water slides, a water play structure, toddler water area, and numerous spray features, and a 3,300-square-foot, six-lane lap pool, as well as sun and shade spaces, a bathhouse, and lockers, and a concession area, the Shark Bites Cafe, which offers drinks, snacks, healthy treats, and a small selection of swimming accessories. Hazen High School (Renton School District, 425-204-4230) and Renton District Pool, next to Lindbergh High School (King County Parks and Recreation, 206-296-4335) both offer indoor year round aquatic facilities offering instruction and recreational swim. Renton Senior Activity Center sponsors free drop-in social, health, and recreational activities and services for individuals age 50 and up. Recreational programs and activities include preschool, youth, teen, and adult leisure programs (arts & crafts, dance, theater); youth, teen, and adult athletics; fitness and wellness programs; outdoor recreational opportunities (cross country skiing, snowshoeing); cultural arts programs, and programs for senior citizens and those with special needs. Preschoolers, elementary school age children and teens can participate in summer camp programs.

Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center is a focal point for recreation activities and hosts After School and School's out programs such as DramaVentures and Mad Science for elementary school age children, Drop-In Programs for infants/toddlers/preschoolers. Farrel-McWhirter Park and Redmond Watershed Preserve offer various nature/environmental programs such as Animal Study, Bird Study, Environmental Science, Mammal Study, Nature, and Soil and Water Conservation, and provide opportunities for scouts to earn nature badges at their facilities. Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park also offers other activities, including the Pioneer Trek program where children can dress in period costumes, do farm "chores," and play games similar to those of pioneer children, preschool and playschool classes for ages 3-5 (Creative Play, Preschool Adventures and Pre-K Discovery), and equestrian programs (specialty pony programs for ages 2-12 that teach both English and Western Riding Techniques, and Pony Club for ages 12 & up). Teens can participate in activities at the Old Fire House Teen Center, 16510 NE 79th St, 425-556-2370, and the Senior Center, 8703 160th Ave N, 425-556-2314, offers various programs for adults age 50 & up, including computer classes. Wheelchair accessible Idylwood Park on Lake Sammamish features a picnic shelter, play structure, concessions stand, and adult lap swim area, as well as restrooms/showers, open field space, and a dock. Marymoor Regional Park, a county run facility, features a climbing wall, a radio-controlled airplane field, an off-leash exercise area for dogs and dog-owners, and the Velodrome, an oval bicycle track for organized racing, as well as a fitness trail/court, open space, bicycling, walking/horse trail, outdoor stage, restrooms, concessions, recreation building and parking. Sixty Acres Park, another county run facility, features 18 soccer fields for practice and game play, a restroom and parking lot adjoining the Sammamish River Trail, which is one of nearly a dozen county maintained hiking, equestrian, jogging and bicycling trails with sections in Redmond. Redmond Pool, across from Redmond High School, offers recreational swimming, exercise programs, water safety classes, and swimming lessons. Recreation programs/classes for all ages include Dance, Music, Photography, Martial Arts, Arts & Crafts, Sports, Fitness and Cooking. Parent/Child classes include Movement & Dance, Gymnastics and Kindermusik. Youth programs also include Drama and the Move over Mozart class offering piano and music theory instruction to children ages 3-12. Fun Factory Mobile Playground offers free activities such as arts and crafts, games and sports at various parks during 90-minute afternoon sessions M-TH during the summer. Summer and school break day camps offer specialized programs focusing on art, dance, drama, math, science, sports, and fitness. Teen/Adult programs/classes include Composting, Golf, Health & Wellness, Parenting, Horsemanship, Yoga, Snowshoeing, Open Gym, Lifeguard Management, Dog Obedience and a River Rafting Float Trip. Adaptive Recreation programs for individuals with disabilities include Seasonal Sports for ages 8 & up (basketball, soccer, softball), Monday Night Socials, Trips & Tours and Volunteer opportunities. Peter Kirk Community Center offers programs for senior adults (age 50+). The swimming and community garden programs are seasonal, open during the summer and spring/summer/fall, respectively.

The parks collectively feature playgrounds, river/pond access, trails, picnic areas/shelters/tables, baseball & soccer fields, basketball & tennis courts, horseshoes, BBQs, skateboarding, public buildings, rentals and restrooms. Game Farm also features a volleyball court, Game Farm Wilderness offers camping and Sunset Park houses a skate park. Riverpoint provides access to the Green River Trail. 18-hole Auburn Golf Course offers lessons, tournaments & leagues and special events for youth & adults and features a clubhouse (opened in 2007) housing a 110-seat restaurant, lounge with outdoor patio, 150-seat banquet facility, pro shop, equipment and power cart rentals and expanded parking lot. Recreational programs in Auburn include preschool, youth, teen, and adult leisure programs (arts & crafts, dance, music) youth, teen, and adult athletics, and fitness and wellness programs. After School Program, a free activity which meets at Cedar River and Tahoma Middle Schools, offers arts & crafts, games, sports, team building and goal setting. DateWise program provides in-school presentations by volunteers to middle and high school youth on the topic of dating violence. BEARS Mentoring Program uses adult volunteers from the community as one-to-one mentors with youth from two local middle schools - Cedar River and Tahoma. Safe Sitter® Babysitting Safe Sitter class is for youth ages 11-13, emphasizing safety for the sitter as well as the children in his/her care. Jazzercise is offered for adults of all ages. Adult Connections, meeting on MWF, is a program for senior adults age 50+ that offers social opportunities, a tasty and nutritious lunch as well as special interest programs and classes such as computer, painting, stained glass (through Seniors Making Art) AARP Safe Driving, health checks and fitness programs, health insurance information, Meals on Wheels, transportation assistance, and trips/tours. Recreational facilities in Vashon include more than 18 parks, which collectively feature athletic fields, playgrounds, picnic areas, walking/trails, scenic views, beach access, fishing, horse trails, kayaking, restrooms or portables and limited parking. Some parks allow dogs (on leash). Vashon Island School District provides some recreation facilities, through inter-local agreement and others are managed jointly with the Vashon-Maury Island Land Trust. Indoor community centers, and special purpose meeting and interpretive centers host various programs and classes for all ages. Youth programs include Basketball, Tang San Do, Junior Crew Rowing, Learn to Row Camp, Spring Crew Session, Ski School, Mid-Winter Nature Camp, Vashon SEALS Swim Team, Salsa dance workshop (also for adults), Ballet and Red Cross Babysitter Training.
