Rosa. The city also operates and maintains nearly 50 neighborhood parks,
including 16 in the Northeast section of Santa Rosa, 18 in the Northwest
quadrant, 8 in the Southeast part, and 6 in the Southwest section. The Finley
Aquatic Center, which is fully ADA accessible with pool ramp and wheel chair
lift, features a training pool, an L-shaped instructional pool, a 1-foot
enclosed wading pool, reception and office facilities, locker rooms with
showers and coin-operated lockers, a classroom, and a seasonal concession
stand. Ridgway Swim Center offers a 25 yard by 25 yard, 9 lane competition
pool; a 2 - 3 1/2 foot deep instructional pool, a 40 ft waterslide, office and
locker room areas; a wheelchair lift; and ADA accessibility throughout the
facility. Bennett Valley Center offers classes, special events and drop-in
activities every weekday for adults 50+. Howarth Community Park features
hiking, biking & jogging trails, lighted tennis courts, a softball field,
picnic areas and children's play areas, and houses Big K-Land Amusement Area,
which features a miniature train, carousel, animal barn (summer only), pony
rides and the Playland Store; as well as Lake Ralphine, which offers boat
rentals & lessons, and fishing. Howarth Park also houses Camp WaTam day
camp in the summer. Bennett Valley Golf Course features an 18-hole course, PGA
instructors for lessons, carts & clubs for rent, full-line of equipment,
Pro Shop, and restaurant. Valley Oak Activity Center is a youth center in NW
Santa Rosa that provides supervised recreational activities such as arts and
crafts, pool table, shuffle board, ping-pong, foosball, playstation, movies,
holiday parties, special events including pizza and ice cream days, board
games, and a library. Luther Burbank Home & Gardens, a National Historic Landmark,
is the home and working gardens of the famous horticulturist, Luther Burbank.
The gardens are open to the public daily, free of charge and tours of the
Burbank Home, Greenhouse and a portion of the gardens are available throughout
the year. The Carriage House Museum and Gift Shop is also open to the public.
The community parks collectively feature family/group picnic areas, BBQ's, play
equipment, baseball, softball & soccer fields (some lighted), tennis,
volleyball & basketball courts (some lighted), horseshoes, restrooms,
clubhouses, dog parks, Day Camp area (Doyle), parking. The neighborhood parks
generally offer picnic areas, and play equipment. Some offer basketball hoops,
creek or nature trails, softball & soccer fields, and BBQ's. A few feature
restrooms, and one has a clubhouse. Recreational classes for all ages include
Arts & Crafts, Computer, Cooking, Dance, Exercise, Music, Sports, Martial
Arts and Special Interest programs. Adult programs include Aerobics, Dog
Obedience Training, Personal Development (parenting, magic workshop,
publishing, inventor's workshop, travel, sports psychology, getting organized,
self improvement), Gardening, Photography, Rock Climbing, Language (Spanish,
Chinese, English, Russian) and Yoga. Child- and youth-oriented programs include
After School Adventures, Summer Camps (general recreation and special

The Rohnert Park Recreation Department serves the communities of Rohnert Park, Cotati and Penngrove. Recreational facilities in Rohnert Park include Rohnert Park Community Center, Callinan Sports & Fitness Center, Foxtail Golf Club, and 21 parks, which collectively feature tennis, basketball & horseshoe courts, swimming pools, softball, baseball fields, & soccer fields, picnic areas, barbeque pits, dog parks, and restrooms. Recreational facilities include four large parks and several smaller pocket parks. Ives Park, near downtown, hosts the annual Sebastopol Apple Blossom Festival and features a playground, picnic areas, baseball field, municipal swimming pool and Calder Creek, which flows through the center of the park. Libby Park, next to Brookhaven Middle School on Valentine Ave, offers "Super Playground", which draws local school children on field trips, as well as Garzot Community Building, picnic areas, and a pond. Laguna Youth Park contains picnic areas and Little League baseball fields, and hosts the Cajun Festival and the Celtic Festival, which together bring several thousand visitors to the Sebastopol area. The adjoining Laguna de Santa Rosa Wetlands Preserve offers several miles of trails on both sides of the Laguna de Santa Rosa, and houses an outdoor classroom designed for about 50 people. Further development of the Laguna Preserve is planned.
