Recreational programs in Berkeley Heights include Yoga, Speed & Agility Training, Circuit Training, Robotics & Electronics, Fitness/Pilates, Dances, Ham Radio License Class, Mannerations (Etiquette), Chess Club, Dance, Music, Sports, Arts & Crafts, Babysitting Training, and Self-Defense. Child Care is available to children ages 9 months to 4 years while their parents are enrolled in fitness classes. Classes and events are held at the Community Center, Columbia Middle School, and the Hamilton Terrace-Early Childhood Center.

Recreational programs in Clark include Adult & Youth Sports, Yoga, Karate, Teen Center, Roller Skating, Swimming, Summer Recreation, and Fitness. Recreational facilities include Brewer Recreation Center, a Community Pool, Fun Time Junction (a new playground built through tax dollars and donations), Oak Ridge Golf Club with an 18-hole golf course, and a new 9-hole golf course, with a miniature golf course and driving range, at the site of the former General Motors plant.

Recreation facilities in Cranford include 11 parks, a Canoe Club, and a Community Center, which houses the Teen Center and is the site for most programs and events (some are held at local schools or Oak Ridge Golf Course). Recreational programs for all ages include sports, yoga, fitness, arts & crafts, music, parent-tot classes, bowling (at Linden Lanes), cooking, self-defense, mad science, and senior citizen programs (bridge, pinochle, aerobics, line dancing, social dancing, Spanish, tai chi, Mahjongg, and movies). Special services for senior citizens include a free shuttle bus service (M-F, 8:15 -3:30, Health Education and Maintenance (Blood Pressure Screenings & Weight Counseling, conducted by the visiting nurse and Health Services), Handyman Program (Home Repairs, Information & Referral Services) and a Senior Volunteer Program (share talents, skills, hobbies, and life experiences by teaching senior classes).

Recreational facilities in Elizabeth include Elmora Racquet Club, Fred Erxleben Recreation Center, Hanratty Complex, Mickey Walker Recreation Center, and Peterstown Community Center. Recreational programs include the Safe Haven After-school Program, which features, among other activities, homework assistance, drill team, basketball, 4-H club, nutrition club, and exercise classes, and Special Opportunities for Achievement & Reawakening (S.O.A.R) After-School Programs. S.O.A.R emphasizes educational achievement and offers recreational activities and supportive services for children and their families. S.O.A.R I for elementary school children meets at Murray School (908-820-4042), S.O.A.R II is held at Roosevelt Middle School (908-820-4055).

Recreational programs in Garwood include Summer Day Camp (Free, Grades 1-8, M-F, AM), Youth Soccer (Spring/Fall, in conjunction with Cranford Soccer Club), Men's Basketball (Lincoln School, Thursday eves, Feb-April), Children's Basketball & Traveling Teams, Special Events (2 Free Swim Nights at Cranford's Indoor Pool & 1 Free Ice Skating Outing at Warnaco Park), Women's Volleyball, and Open Gym. Lincoln School is the location for most programs. Recreational facilities include 4 parks. The parks collectively feature picnic tables, swings, play equipment, water fountain, basketball court, gazebo, benches, baseball/soccer fields, and bathrooms.

The Kenilworth Recreation Department organizes activities for borough residents. Events are announced on the whiteboard in the Recreation Building window, displayed on flyers given to borough businesses and distributed through the schools, Senior Citizens Center, and Kenilworth Public Library, posted on Kenilworth TV Channel 36, and printed as press releases in the local papers. Kenilworth Wrestling Club, Soccer Club and Little League also organize activities and play for their respective sports.

The Linden Recreation department offers programs for all ages, including softball, tennis, and fitness for adults, and holiday ceramics, sports, playground programs and summer day camps for children. Many of the programs meet at the community centers. Special events include Concerts in the Park, at Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade across from City Hall. Recreational facilities include Linden Community Center, 605 S. Wood Ave, Gregorio Recreation Center, 330 Helen St, Linden Multi-Purpose Center, 1025 John St, and 35 parks spread throughout the community. The parks collectively feature playground equipment, paved play area (some lighted), basketball, tennis, and handball courts (some lighted), ball fields (baseball, soccer), picnic areas (by permit), ice skating, small shelters, and bathrooms. Memorial Park features a field house, Woodrow Wilson Memorial Park has facilities for fishing, and McGillvray Place Park offers a spray pool. Wanda Anita Green Memorial Park features a United Airlines Flight 93 Memorial. 3 undeveloped parks offer opportunities for passive recreation. Various health services sponsored by the Linden Board of Health (blood pressure screenings for adults and the child health care program) are held at City Hall and the Gregorio Recreation Center (respectively). A Girl Scout Program meets weekly at Linden Multi-Purpose Center (908-474-8639). An Education/Recreation Day Camp Program at Sunnyside Park is offered to Special Education students, featuring story hours, crafts, finger play songs, dramatics, developmental training (motor, sensory, speech, social skills), perceptual training, trips, swimming, special days, and a work-skills program including sewing skills, yard clean-up, and light maintenance. Gregorio Recreation Center hosts a variety of programs, activities and services for senior citizens.

Recreational facilities in New Providence include the recreation office/municipal center gym, 3 schools, 4 fields, and 3 parks. The facilities collective feature sports fields (baseball, softball, soccer), gyms, basketball courts, playground equipment and restrooms. The municipal center also has an art room and game room, Jaycees Park features a fitness course, Oakwood Park offers a horseshoe pit, bocce court, nature trail, canoe launch, covered picnic area with grills (permit needed), and ice skating ponds, and Our Lady of Peace School features a soccer/lacrosse field. New Providence Community Pool, 1400 Springfield Ave, 908- 464-4141 offers aquatic programs, and the Tennis Courts Complex located there also is available to tennis and handball enthusiasts. Recreational programs for all children and/or adults focus on sports instruction/leagues/teams (baseball, softball, t-ball, volleyball, soccer, basketball. Adult only fitness classes encompass Pilates, yoga and body shaping. Youth classes and programs are geared to PK-8th grade children and include parent-tot activities, PK-K arts & crafts, sports and movement classes, after-school programs for grades 1-8 (fine & performing arts, ham radio license, baton twirling), summer playground program, summer camps, summer classes (music, art, swimming), summer enrichment (SEA, grades 1-8), and a teen hang-out (Sat nights, Grades 7-8, Municipal Center Gym). Programs for children/teens with special needs include the recently developed after-school activities program (sports and games), and Saturday sports programs (soccer, basketball). The Young Adult Canteen Program serves teens/adults with special needs.

Recreational facilities in Summit include Summit Recreation Center, featuring a gym, meeting rooms, soccer/baseball/softball Fields, playground, and basketball courts; Summit Municipal Golf Course, offering a 9-hole golf course; Summit Community Pool, offering a 50 meter main pool, children's leisure pool, bath house, concession stand, picnic grove and sand volleyball court; 2 parks, 2 recreation fields and 1 playground, collectively featuring paddle tennis courts, baseball/soccer fields, basketball, tennis & bocce courts (some lighted tennis), multi-purpose practice fields, and playgrounds. Memorial Field also features a cinder track and Cornog Fieldhouse. Tatlock/Greenfield Recreation Fields offer a synthetic turf Football Stadium and Track and Locker Rooms. Recreational programs include a Golden Age Club for senior citizens, and sports instruction/camps/teams for children (basketball, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer). Other summer camps for children include KidzArt, Harding Kids (science), and a general recreational camp. Mad Science of Union County runs a week long camp during winter break (K-8). Cheerleading is offered in the spring and fall to girls in grades 5-8. Tennis and swimming lessons are offered in the summer for all ages. Men's softball (slow and fast pitch) is offered in the spring and summer, and a swim team is open to all children ages 5 to 18. A winter ski club is open to Middle School students. Year-round programs include chess (for adults), karate (ages 5-15), Harding Kids Club (ages 4-6, Kindergarten readiness), and Bikram Yoga.

Recreational program in Union include adult activities/classes/leagues (Open Gym, Woman's Physical Fitness, Volleyball, Woman's Bowling, Men's Basketball, Youth Sports (Baseball, Bowling, Soccer, Wrestling), Youth Arts & Crafts, and Summer Classes/Clinics/Camps (Tennis, Softball, Basketball, Baseball). Union also offers a Summer Playground Recreation Program (9-4 M-F, grades K-8) at 13 locations throughout Union, featuring arts & crafts, sports, and special events. A Model Airplane Club meets at the Recreation Center. Union Municipal Band and Union Harmonica Band are open to area residents. Rabkin Park hosts a Special Needs Summer Program (M-F 10:00-2:00), June 26-Aug 4 for the summer playground and special needs programs. Recreational facilities include the Recreation Center and Rabkin Park, which offers tennis courts.

Recreational facilities in Westfield include Memorial Pool (in Memorial Park), 7 parks and 2 sports fields. The facilities collectively feature all-purpose, softball, baseball & soccer fields, basketball, tennis, and handball courts, jogging paths, ice skating rinks/ponds, memorial trees & gardens, and play areas. Memorial Pool offers memberships, its facilities include a 50 meter 165' x 75' pool, 40' x 60' diving pool, training pool and kiddie pool, concession stand and picnic area. The pool offers the Marlins swim teams, swim lessons, movie nights, and teen activities. Brightwood Park offers a pond with dam, picnic areas and nature trail and Tamaques Park features picnic areas, shuffleboard courts, pond, and a service building with restrooms. Recreational programs and events include tennis (all ages), youth programs including arts & crafts, parent-child fitness/play, bowling league, golf clinic (Oak Ridge Golf Course in Clark), karate, "mannerations" (etiquette), piano, sports (soccer & sports squirts), field hockey clinic, teen programs (teen center for high school age, night place and teen time for middle school age), and adult programs including fitness, dance class and club, scrabble club, and senior social (monthly, includes a speaker).
