Recreational facilities in the Amityville and North Amityville area include 2 parks, one which features a community center and softball field, the other that offers handball courts and both of which offer basketball courts and playgrounds.  The North Amityville Pool also features a playground, tennis courts, concession area and first aid/comfort station. The North Amityville Senior Center offers weekly activities such as arts & crafts, bingo and seniorcize, monthly events, activities & trip, and daily meals (breakfast & lunch).

Bellport recreational facilities include the Bellport Country Club, which offers golf and tennis, Bellport Marina, and "Ho-Hum" Beach, reachable by the village-owned ferry "Whalehouse Point" or by private boat, and Mother's Beach at the tip of South Howells Point Road, which features a playground and sandy beach. Residents with photo I.D. can get "resident rates" for some events and activities. Classes and activities, including AARP Safe Driving Classes, and Senior Days, are offered for senior citizens. Many classes and activities are held at the community center.

The Recreation and Sports department operates, and maintains the Brookhaven parks, ball fields, playgrounds, community centers; beaches and pools, docks and marinas, and boat launching ramps. The department also runs recreational and sports programs and the Bald Hill Amphitheatre and Gallery, and together with the Long Island Cultural Center and the Brookhaven Arts and Humanities Council develops the Cultural Center and provides arts and humanities programs throughout the Town.
