Bayonne offers a variety of programs for all ages, including seasonal sports, golf, tennis, arts & crafts, chess, summer day camps for elementary schoolchildren, and classes for preschoolers. Ability Day Camp is available for children with disabilities, ages 6 & older. Bayonne Recreational Travel Club offers excursions and trips for adults and children (separately). Recreational facilities include 7 parks and 3 playgrounds, collectively featuring playgrounds, walking trails, benches, baseball/softball fields, football fields, soccer fields, basketball courts, wading pool, restrooms, tennis courts, dock and fishing. DiDomenico Park also offers a swimming pool, handball court, and boat ramp. Mayor Dennis P. Collins Park also features a skate park, a bicycling area for children, and Sirius dog park. Lincoln Community School offers the Olympic Size Joseph P Skutnick Indoor Pool, site of Open Swim MWF evenings (Mon Adult only) & Sat aft, and Senior Open Swim TTH AM (11-Noon).

Kearny offers a variety of recreational programs for all ages, including Seasonal Sports, Open Swim & Swimming Lessons (at the Kennedy Natatorium Pool at Lincoln School), Bowling, Fitness, Dance, Karate, Cheerleading, Theatre/Acting, Walk for Fitness, and Golf (at Weequahic Park in Newark). The Kearny Recreation Department also offers an open and all day Summer Playground Program at various playgrounds and schools within the Town. Recreational facilities in Kearny include 14 parks, 10 playgrounds, 3 recreational complexes including sports fields (baseball, softball, football, soccer), 1 complex also featuring a basketball court and playground, an archery range, a roller hockey facility, a practice soccer facility, and a marina.

The North Bergen Department of Parks and Public Property provides recreational and cultural activities within the Township and maintains its parks (18 recreational facilities on 280 acres of land) and public buildings. Recreational programs include youth sports programs (Football, Baseball, T-Ball, Soccer, Basketball, Wrestling, Cheerleading, Pom-Poms), Dance (Ballet, ages 5-9), and Special Events/Programs (Summer Playground, Summer Music Instruction/Concert, Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween & Christmas Parties)­.

In addition to the city recreation facilities, Essex County-owned & operated James J. Braddock Park is located in North Bergen, and its recreational facilities include tennis courts, a track, and a lake for fishing.

The Secaucus Recreation Department offers a variety of programs for all ages, including seasonal and year-round sports, swimming, cheerleading, arts & crafts, performing arts, junior police academy, special needs children's camp, summer day camp, and an after-school care program at local elementary schools.

Recreational facilities in West New York include 13 parks, 1 mini-park and a stadium. The Parks & Public Property Department coordinates activities at the parks and other recreational/public buildings, and provides for their maintenance and security. Facilities at the parks include tennis courts, sports fields and playgrounds.
