Miami's Department of Parks and Recreation offer a variety of recreation programs and facilities for residents and visitors. 32 neighborhood/community parks, most of which offer organized recreation programs/classes and are staffed with a building manager or supervisor, collectively feature playgrounds, basketball & tennis courts, football/soccer fields, baseball/softball fields, swimming pools, racquetball courts, weight rooms, tracks, roller hockey rinks and tennis centers. 8 nature parks and 26 mini-parks also provide residents with recreational opportunities. 2 Dog Parks, Kennedy Park at 2600 S Bayshore Dr, and Blanche Park, Shipping Ave & Virginia St, allow for off-leash activities. Activities/classes at the parks (which vary by location) include arts & karate, crafts, team sports, golf, chess, English classes, 4-H club, summer camps and seasonal camps, learn-to-swim lessons and after school child care/recreation programs. 20 parks offer programs and/or events unique to them. Dorsey Park, 1701 NW 1st Ave, 305-579-6940, offers an exercise program. Grapeland Heights Park, 1550 NW 37th Ave, 305-633-5536, provides youth judo and paddle ball. Lemon City Park, 27 NE 58th St at Miami Court, offers dominos and a Summer Readers program. Little Haiti Park offers aerobics classes. African Square Park, 1400 NW 62nd St, 305-579-3408, sponsors the Urban League Rainbow Club, Black on Black Youth Crime Prevention Program, Liberty City Family Empowerment Connection, a Youth Club and offers tutoring. Athalie Range Park, 525 NW 62nd St, 305-757-7961, houses a YMCA run playground, offers the Keeping It Real program and is home to the City of Miami Disability Program. Bryan Park, 2301 SW 13th St, 305-643-7150, focuses exclusively on tennis, with programs and special events such as the USA Team Tennis League and Tournament, USTA Florida Tournament, Tennis Lessons, Summer Tennis Camp and Summer National Senior Tennis League. Charles Hadley (Manor) Park offers Fishing, Checkers, Readers Program and FCAT Studies, and hosts Heart of the Parks and a City wide Picnic event. Elizabeth Virrick Park offers Virrick Park Walkers Club, Senior Fitness classes, Tutor sessions, Coconut Grove Cares Barnyard Parenting classes, Aquatic Fitness classes, Grandjete' dance, and Music classes, and hosts Old School Sundays and a Black Top Tournament. Gibson Park, 401 NW 12th St, 305-579-6843, offers African dance and Weight Training, and hosts Overtown Comes Alive and an End of year talent Show - King and Queen Contest. Jose Marti Park, 362 SW 4th St, 05-575-2103 offers Seniors Art classes and Water Polo and hosts a Swim Team, the Elevate Miami program and the Miami Children's Orchestra. Events held at Jose Marti Park include Police Halloween Haunted House, Commissioner Barreira Toy Giveaway, Miami River Day, Fishing Tournament, Jose Marti Parade, Amigos for Kids Toy Drive, Amigos for Kids Back to School Celebration. Kinloch Municipal Park, 455 NW 47th Ave, 305-461-7203, sponsors a City Softball League and houses the Parks and Recreation Department's Disabilities Division, which offers an Adult Development Training Program, and the Disabilities Kool Kids Summer Camp. Lummus Park offers a Senior Citizen Recreational Program and hosts a Domino Tournament and a Fishing Tournament. Moore Park, 765 NW 36th St, 305-637-1061, offers the Helping Hands, Northwest Track and FOCAL programs. Morningside Park offers Ocean Kayak classes and sponsors the Baynanza Bay Cleanup, Morningside Historical Home Tour events. Robert King High Park/Carlos J. Aboleya Picnic Ground hosts Scouts Camp-outs and the Cuban Basketball Cup, Volleyball Independence Cup, Easter Egg hunt and Cuban Domino Tournament. Roberto Clemente (Wynwood) Park offers Track and Field and L.E.O. Classes, sponsors the Martinez Baseball Academy and Roberto Clemente Men's League, and hosts the Roberto Clemente Day and Increase the Peace Day events. Williams Park, 1717 NW 5th Ave, 305-579-6978, hosts the Thanksgiving Turkey Giveway and Christmas Toy Giveaway events. Special programs offered through the park district include "eParks", day care, after school activities, summer camps and sports leagues. The "eParks" program provides a network of "Neighborhood Technology Learning Centers" that offer computer labs & classes in 27 city parks throughout Miami. The After School Program, which offers both paid and free sessions at parks that have a minimum of 12 children enrolled, runs from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, for children ages 7-13 during the school year, with activities that include homework assistance, indoor games, learn-to-swim, arts and crafts, ceramics, 4-H, cheerleading, special events, field trips, youth club and outdoor activities such as sports clinics, football league, basketball league, softball league and T-ball league. Fee-based Learn-To-Swim programs (Hadley Pool, 305-638-8340 for times/dates), are offered at various pools throughout the city (some open summer only) and are geared for ages 3 & up through adult. Fee-based Super Camp programs operate from 7:30 AM- 6 PM M-F, provide indoor and outdoor recreation and cultural activities, include field trips and meet at Curtis Park, 1901 NW 24th Ave, 305-634-4961, Robert King High, 7025 W Flagler St, 305) 261-6151, Shenandoah Park, 1800 SW 21st Ave, 305-856-9551, and West End Park, 250 SW 60th Ave, 305-264-0341. Curtis and West End Parks have swimming pools for aquatic activities as well.

The Summer Camp program for ages 7-13, free except for fees associated with the Summer Free Lunch Program, field trips and evening public learn-to-swim classes, meets at 18 park locations throughout Miami (4 with pool facilities), and offers a variety of activities. Film Camp (305-642-1271), offered in conjunction with the Florida Film Institute, provide middle and high school teens the chance to learn about the film making process, the fundamentals of writing a screen play and to make their own movie. Music and Arts programs (305-642-1271 for information) include City Kids Choir for middle and high-school age inner city youth with interests in music, provides after-school music activities, leadership skills development and etiquette; Music Camp for elementary aged children, which combines music theory with music lessons; and Arts for Learning/Drama Camp, which uses professional teaching artists to introduce the basics of drama to youngsters at city parks throughout Miami. The City of Miami Department of Parks and Recreation operates five childcare centers for children ages 2 to 5 at Moore Park, 756 NW 36th St, 305-635-2739, Shenandoah Park, 1800 SW 21st Ave, 305-858-5350, Eaton Park, 490 NE 61st St, 305-759-3507, Lemon City Park, 27 NE 58th St, 305-759-3507 and West End Park, 250 SW 60th Ave, 305-264-0341. Tuition is on a sliding scale basis. Kinlock Park's camp for children ages 7-14 with disabilities meets from 8 AM-5 PM M-F, with a minimum of 7 and maximum or 14 children enrolled, and offers swimming, bowling, movies, sailing, kayaking, arts & crafts, music, games, general recreation lunch and snack (activities may vary according to population); 305- 461-7203 or 305-461-7201 ext. 226 for information. Other programs available include Adult Day Training Program (A.D.T.), Living Independently for Tomorrow (L.I.F.T.) and Non-Residential Habilitation Program (NRSS). Various activities, including University of Miami sports games, bowling, sailing, theatre and opera events, visits to the mall and local restaurants; and events (14 special events scheduled annually, themed to cover holiday celebrations, dance, campfires and cultural events) are also offered (305-461-7201 ext. 227 for information). In addition to all regular programs and facilities, the Parks and Recreation department operates the new Grapeland Water Park at 1550 NW 37th Ave, 305-960-2950, whose attractions include Black Beard’s Beach, which offers four pools with slides and splashes, meandering tube rides and recreation swim time, Pirates Plunge, with shallow water and toddler friendly slides for ages 5 & under, Shipwreck Island with towers and fast slides for ages 6 & up, Captain’s Lagoon, a large recreation pool for all ages, and Buccaneer River Ride, with colored inflatable tubes for a ride around the park on a lazy river. Finally, city-owned and maintained (along with Virginia Key Beach Trust) 82-acre Virginia Key Barrier Island on Key Biscayne off the Rickenbacker Causeway, features a lifeguard supervised beach with restrooms and parking; and the 15 acre Hammock area, which features an interpretive Trail and is maintained by the Beach Trust and the Parks and Recreation Department, both of which are involved in its restoration and preservation with such activities as removing invasive exotic vegetation and restoring native plants to the area.

City recreational facilities in Coral Gables include Coral Bay Park, Jaycee Park, Nat Winokur Park, Pierce Park, Sunrise Harbor Park, Salvadore Park and Phillips Park, which collectively feature playgrounds, pavilions and athletic fields (permits required for exclusive use). Biltmore Tennis Center, 1150 Anastasia Ave, 305-460-5360, offers tennis facilities. Coral Gables (War Memorial) Youth Center, 405 University Dr, 305-460-5620, features a small theatre, gym, teaching kitchen, fitness center, and indoor playground; outdoor facilities include football, soccer, & baseball/softball fields, outdoor basketball courts, and a playground. Programs and activities offered throughout the year include gymnastics, dance, theater arts, cooking, ceramics, fine arts, languages, music, drama, fitness, roller hockey, baseball, soccer, football, as well as summer/holiday camps and special events. 820,000 gallon Venetian Pool, fed by spring water from an underground aquifer and featuring two waterfalls, loggias, porticos, palm trees and a signature bridge, is open to residents age 3 & up (renovation through April 2009). Dade County facilities in Coral Cables include Fairchild Tropical Garden, 10901 Old Cutler Rd, 305-667-1651, which during October through May offers K-5 students and their teachers the Explorer Program, featuring interactive, hands-on field studies that meet Sunshine State Standards for science, a narrated tram tour, and the chance to plant their own botanical souvenir. Fairchild Tropical Garden also features Discovery Guided and Self-Guided Programs Facilitated activity stations. The Fairchild Challenge for Middle Schools and High Schools is an environmental education outreach program offered for middle and high schools, with parallel tracks for each age group and multidisciplinary competitions aligned with Sunshine State Standards benchmarks. Teachers can participate in Professional Development Teacher training accredited through Miami-Dade County Public Schools, including intensive summer courses, in-service and Saturday training programs carried out during the school year. The Adult Education/Continuing Education program offers 150+ classes, focusing on horticulture, conservation and the environment of South Florida as well as art, cuisine and natural history, as well as offering tours to the Everglades, Florida Keys and other environmentally significant sites. Fairchild also offers graduate programs (including thesis research with an FTBG researcher in various areas of tropical botany) leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from local universities, along with professional training in Florida botany and horticulture, with courses on topics such as plant propagation, taxonomy, botanical documentation, and conservation of endangered species. Through coop relationships with Florida International University (FIU) and the University of Miami (UM), Fairchild botanists and FIU/UM faculty serve as research scientists for both institutions, and several university classes are taught at Fairchild. Community outreach efforts include lectures by Fairchild staff members to various groups, display materials brought to community fairs and events throughout the year and collaborations with environmental organizations, non-profit groups, and educational institutions in Miami-Dade (305-667-1651 ext. 3325). Fairchild Tropical Garden also maintains the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden Living Collections and Garden Landscapes Hotline, a free telephone plant information service available to the public (305-667-1651 ext. 3317). Recreational facilities in Hialeah include 15 active recreation parks, 11 of which house a recreation center building and 3 of which feature an aquatic center; 3 adult centers, 3 sports centers/complexes, 6 mini parks and one passive park. The parks collectively feature children's playgrounds, food concession areas, lighted and unlighted sports courts (basketball, tennis, racquetball, sand volleyball), lighted and unlighted sports fields (baseball, softball, soccer, general or multi-purpose), in-line hockey rinks, swimming pools, community police stations and E-libraries. Cotson Park, 574 W 23rd St, 305-884-3729, features a weight lifting gym and Wilde Park, 5405 W 18th Ave, 305- 821-8054, offers a jogging course. Slade Park, 2501 W 74th St, 305- 818-2991, features a gazebo with picnic table and Southeast Park, 1015 SE 9th Ave, 305- 883-8024 offers a lighted street hockey rink. Goodlet Park 4200 W 8th Ave 305-556-4567, features a 40 yard track, 236 seat children's theatre and a wooden floor dance studio. McDonald Park, 7505 W 12th Ave, 305- 818-9164, features a 4 acre lake and offers pavilions on various sizes for rental. Milander Park, 4700 Palm Ave, 305-557-6770, houses a football stadium, auditorium with seating for up to 800, and an Olympic size swimming pool with slide and wet tot lot. Bucky Dent Park, 2250 W 60th St, 305-818-9168, houses a combination youth center/gym, arts/crafts room and multi-purpose recreation room. It also is home to the Edgar J. Hall Special Population Center, which offers a Therapeutics Program that includes a Day Program for Adults focusing on basic education courses involving academics, daily living skills, adapted physical education and leisure education; an Afternoon Program for Adults providing athletics and recreational activities; and an Evening Program for Adults including athletic activities such as tennis, bowling, basketball, aquatics and other sports as well as arts & crafts and social activities, such as, dances and field trips. Special Olympics training is also available during all three programs. Hialeah's three adult centers offer a variety of facilities and programming. All feature kitchen facilities, ceramic/arts and crafts rooms and multi-purpose recreation or activity rooms. Goodlet Adult Center, 900 W 44th Place, 305-825-4947, also houses classrooms, a dining room, a billiard room and a domino room. Hialeah Adult Center, 20 W 6th St, 305-883-8030, is housed on the first floor of Vila Aida, a 57 unit elderly housing project and also offers a card room and 5 meeting rooms. Wilde Adult Center, 5405 W 18th Ave, 305-556-0833, also features conference rooms.

Three Aquatic Centers; Bucky Dent, 2250 W 60th St, 305-818-2990; McDonald, 7505 W 12th Ave, 305-818-9164 and Milander, 4800 Palm Ave, 305-822-2931, have heated pools, are handicapped accessible, open to the public year-round, and collectively feature water slides, activity pools, wet tot lots and concession stands. Bucky Dent also features a 6 lane swimming pool with zero depth entry; McDonald offers a wave pool and a lazy river; and Milander features a 25' x 50' pool. All three aquatic centers, as well as the seasonal pools, offer swim lessons, taught by certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors, during the summer for infants to adults. 4 seasonal (summer) outdoor pools, Babcock, 430 E 7th St, 305-883-8030, which houses a concession stand, and is handicapped accessible; Bright, 760 E 35th St, 305-696-0605; Reid, 2245 W 7th Ct 305-884-5515; and Walker, 880 W 29th St, 305-884-5514, all offer public swimming and feature diving boards. Bucky Dent and Milander Aquatic Centers also sponsor swim teams, for ages 6-17, with varying age ranges and skill levels; and host Lifeguard Training classes, as well as a Water Aerobics course, an 8-hour Community First Aid & Safety class (CPR), and the Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program. Three sports facilities; Filer Middle School Sports Center at 531 W 29th St; Hialeah Middle School Sports Complex at 6027 E 7th Ave; and Ernest Graham Park - Alex Fernandez Field, 455 W 66th St, 305-824-5721; collectively feature lighted baseball & softball fields and concession stand buildings with bathrooms (Fernandez Field's building is handicapped accessible). Alex Fernandez Field also features a certified athletic turf with an automated irrigation system, an electronic scoreboard, and an exercise path. Sports programs offered Cheerleading, Soccer, Flag Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Competitive Leagues- Fast Break Basketball, Hialeah Youth Soccer League, Pony League Baseball, and NFL Flag Football League. include Hialeah's 6 mini parks collectively feature open space, benches, and landscaping and walkways. Ethel Primus Park also houses 2 shelters and Triangle Park features a Veterans Memorial, Cuban Holocaust Monument and Cuban Women Prisoners Monument. The Cultural Arts Program, in conjunction with the Goodlet Park Theater, offers a variety of specialized troupes and productions throughout the year, as well as cultural arts classes for children ages 6-17 such as ballet, flamenco, jazz, modern dance, hip-hop, tap, salsa, belly dancing, drama, voice, musical theatre, piano, photography and modeling. Classes meet at Goodlet Park Theater, 4200 W 8th Avenue or Wilde Community Center, 5405 W 18th Ave. The Creative Learning & Play After-School program (CL&P, 305-818-9143 for info) offers a school age child care/recreation program for children in grades K-8, with activities that include reading tutoring, FCAT practice, homework assistance, recreational and health activities, art, dance, drama, and social skills development. The program meets after school from 2-6:30 PM and on teacher planning days from 7:30 AM-6:30 PM at Babcock, Bright, Casas, O'Quinn, Slade, Southeast, Walker and Wilde Parks, as well as at Goodlet Adult Center, Hoffman Gardens Center and Jose Marti Middle School. The program is free (partially funded by The Children's Trust) at all locations except Babcock, Slade and Wilde Parks ($30 weekly at those sites). Adult athletics (all with varying season fees) include Softball, Baseball and Basketball. Softball leagues use the Bucky Dent Softball Complex, 2250 W 60th St, Baseball teams use Slade Park, 2501 W 74th St or Graham Park, 455 W 66th St. Basketball leagues use Bucky Dent Gym, 2250 W 60th St. Other adult programs include arts & crafts, fitness and English as a Second Language (ESOL) classes (all free, but students pay for arts/crafts materials). Clubs offered to adults and senior citizens, which offer activities such as billiards, chess, dominoes, Bingo, and walking, include the Cuban American club, Super Seniors, and Unite (days/times for the various clubs and activities vary). Special Events throughout the year include Youth Appreciation Day, Hialeah Youth Eggstravaganza, City of Hialeah Golf Tournament, Independence Day Celebration, El sabor de Hialeah Hispanic Heritage Festival, Holiday Food Drive, Howl O’Ween Hialeah, Turkey Trot, Art on Palm & Triangle Park Lighting Ceremony, Santa’s Snow Blast, and Operation Santa Calling.

Homestead's Parks and Recreation Department maintains the city's parks, athletic fields, and other public areas, programs youth, adult, senior citizens and community support activities and operates, supervises and programs for the Homestead Sports Complex, 1601 SE 28th Ave, 305-224-4570. Recreation opportunities in Homestead include youth sports. Homestead Youth Baseball, 305-248-6851; Homestead Little League, 305-342-9919; Dick Conley Memorial Football League, 305-247-9219; and American Youth Soccer Organization, 786-243-1491, use local athletic fields, baseball in the springtime and football & soccer in the fall. Homestead's park system includes 248 developed acres that include neighborhood parks/spaces, community parks, municipal parks, special use facilities and beaches/water access points. Neighborhood parks collectively feature open play space, picnic tables/benches, picnic pavilion/shade structures, playgrounds, walking paths, shade trees, restrooms, drinking fountains, limited parking and restrooms. Community parks, ranging in size from 20-50 acres, collectively feature athletic fields, skate park areas and playgrounds. Audubon Park houses basketball & tennis courts, and features a shaded walking/biking trail around a lake. Blakely Park includes a full size running track and the Police Athletic League (PAL) run Curtis Ivy Gym, which includes indoor basketball, volleyball and soccer courts, fitness room with weights, and meeting rooms that facilitate computer classes, fitness classes, and after school & summer camp programs. Roby George Park, 201 SW 11th Ave, run by the Southeast Dade Ministerial Alliance, features a swimming pool and basketball courts, and hosts a 9-week youth summer camp program. Municipal parks have a variety of sizes and features. Losner Park houses a year round amphitheater that hosts community events and concerts. J.D. Redd Park, 550 N Homestead Blvd, features baseball fields, tennis & racquetball courts, children's playground, picnic area and pavilions. Harris Field, 1034 NE 8th St, houses baseball & softball fields, a football stadium, multi-use soccer & football fields, and a pavilion. Harris Field also hosts the annual Homestead Rodeo and houses the Homestead Family YMCA, 305-248-5189, which features a child care center, aquatics/swimming pool facility (one of two within Homestead), gym and meeting rooms, and offers youth & adults sports programs, karate classes, after school recreation/child care, summer camps and swimming lessons. William F.  "Bill" Dickinson & Phichol Williams Community Centers serve the community. Dickinson is primarily a senior center that features a large recreation room, kitchens, pottery workshop, meeting rooms and offices and provides programming such as ceramics classes, ping pong, bridge, and fitness, wellness & diet/weight watching classes. Musselwhite Park, 1615 N Krome Ave, houses a Senior Center as well. Williams Center, 951 SW 4th St (next to Roby George Park), 305-242-7146 or 305-242-1462, now managed by Southeast Dade Ministerial Alliance, features a large recreation room, kitchens and restrooms, is available for rental for special events, and hosts a 9-week youth summer camp program. 136 acre Homestead Sports Complex (a Special use facility) is used for large city events such as the July 4th celebration and features a large stadium, a baseball complex and dorms. Homestead Sports Complex also hosts a 9-week baseball camp for children ages 6-13 from 7 AM-6:30 PM weekdays, including before- & after-camp care (camp hours are 9 AM-5 PM). Private special use facilities, available to their residents only, include Keysgate Golf Club & Amphitheater, 2300 SE Palm Dr, 305-230-0300, which features an 18-hole golf course, a tennis & racquetball center, and the amphitheater and offers a USA tennis and fitness summer camp for children ages 5-16 years. County-owned & operated Homestead Bayfront Marina, 6 miles east of Homestead on Biscayne Bay, features a natural swimming lagoon and beach, with amenities that include a children's playground, fishing area, picnic pavilion, grills, boat ramp & parking, and restrooms & showers. Miami-Dade County Parks & Facilities include 35-acre Fruit & Spice Park, a subtropical botanical area, open from 10 AM-5 PM, that features more than 500 varieties of rare fruits, herbs, spices and nuts from around the world including 80 varieties of bananas; 70 varieties of bamboo; 40 varieties of grapes; 27 varieties of mangoes; 15 varieties of jackfruit trees and many other exotic edibles. The Department of Recreation provides various programs for Key Biscayne residents, including special events, cultural and holiday programs, camps, instructional/recreational classes, seminars, sports, hobbies, entertainment, national and historical celebrations, and tours. Programs are generally held at (or leave from/return to) the Key Biscayne Community Center, which features a swimming pool, teen/game room, toddler drop-in care facility, indoor playground, computer lab and gym. The community center is open from 6 AM-10 PM weekdays and 8 AM-8 PM on weekends. The pool operates from 6:15 AM-8:45 PM weekdays and 8:15 AM-7:45 PM on weekends, with swim lanes always available for open swim (may be limited for a class or special program). The teen/game room is open after school on weekdays till 10 PM, and from 10 AM-8 PM on weekends. The toddler drop-in care service is open from 8 AM-Noon & 4-8 PM on weekdays. The indoor playground is open from 9 AM-1 PM weekdays for children under age 6, and 3-8 PM weekdays and 9 AM-8 PM on weekends for children of all ages (children under age 10 must be supervised by an adult). The computer lab is available from 9 AM-3 PM weekdays for adults, and from 4-8 PM (3 PM on Wed) weekdays and Noon-6 PM on weekends for all ages. The gym offers open basketball during all general hours of operation, with programming after 4 PM. Adult basketball (ages 35 and up) is held on Saturday mornings (10-Noon) and indoor soccer meets on Sunday mornings (10-Noon) for all ages, and on Tuesday evenings for teens/adults (8-9 PM for age 30 & up, 9-10 PM for ages 15-30). The non-profit Key Biscayne Athletic Club (KBAC) and/or the village, organizes youth (ages 6-14) and adult (age 18 & up) sports programs at local parks and athletic fields, including, for all ages, soccer, basketball and softball; indoor soccer for adults; and flag football, tackle football, volleyball and lacrosse for youth, as well as various camps & clinics. Outdoor recreation facilities include Village Green, St. Agnes Field, Key Biscayne K-8 Center Field, Calusa Park and Crandon Park (a county facility). Village Green features a brick promenade with fountain, open multipurpose fields with portable baseball/softball backstops, soccer goals, and football goals set up during each sport's season, open space for free play and kite flying activities, a bocce court, a playground, a tot lot, a jogging path and a shade pavilion and shaded benches. St. Agnes Field at 100 Harbor Dr, used by the Village for youth and adult sports under a shared-use agreement, features lighted multipurpose fields and one full basketball court. Key Biscayne K-8 Center Field, used by the Village under a shared-use agreement, offers a softball/baseball field with backstop and dugouts, open space for soccer practice, and two new basketball courts including one court with youth height hoops. The center provides USPTA or USPTR certified staff instructors for individual private or semi-private lessons, sponsors a U.S. Junior National Tennis Team and a World Team Tennis (WTT) League, offers a Summer Camp thru Cliff Drysdale Tennis Program and hosts the Sony Ericsson Open, a 12-day tournament featuring the top 96 men and women tennis players in the world. The Youth Music Campaign, organized and staffed by University of Miami student volunteers, offers musical opportunities for underprivileged youth in Miami. A concession area is planned as a future addition. 25-acre Palmetto Bay Park features a skate pavilion, basketball courts, the largest Boundless Playgrounds in South Florida (a fully accessible playground with play areas for both younger and older children), a six-field softball complex, a 2-story concession building, a perimeter walking path, open green areas,

picnic gazebos (available for party rentals) and a renovated recreation room (also available for party rentals). 3-acre Perrine Wayside (Dog) Park features separate areas for small and large dogs with a gazebo, new park furniture, signs and parking areas, a large lake with a fountain in the center, a perimeter walking path and fence, and pet water fountains. 4-acre Thalatta Park offers direct access to the ocean, with habitat for herons, pelicans, marine iguanas and other plant and wildlife native to mangroves; and houses a two-story vintage residence designed and built in a Mediterranean-Revival style by the Connett family. Improvements planned for the park include a walking trail, pedestrian entrance, new parking, improved entry and courtyard, reflecting pool, covered special events area, food preparation area, open outdoor terrace, ADA compliant restrooms, office space, meeting room, Pioneer museum, open green area, renovations to the historic structures, and landscaping. Ludovici Park Library and Community Center at Ludovici Park, 17641 Old Cutler Rd, is a proposed 5,000 square-foot Palmetto Bay Branch Library that will serve as a neighborhood library; a 2,012 square foot, two-story Community Center that will offer first floor space for special performances and an outdoor area for lectures, workshops and children's activities; and an adjacent environmentally-oriented park. Palmetto Bay offers sports programs and summer camps that meet at Coral Reef and Palmetto Bay Parks.

Miami Shores Recreation Department facilities include the Community Center, Aquatic Center, Field House, Tennis Center, Tot Lot, Soccer Field, Baseball Field and Basketball Courts. Recreation programs include after school care for elementary school age children, which provides transportation from several nearby schools and accepts children dropped off from other schools. Enrolled children may sign up for other activities/classes at the Field House or Community Center during the after school program (extra cost). Kids Day Off and Holiday Care and Summer Camp programs are also available. The Community Center hosts classes & programs for all ages, including arts & crafts, tumbling, dance (tap, jazz, ballet, break dancing, hip hop, salsa, belly dance), jazzercise, yoga, karate, gymnastics, fitness/jump rope, instrumental music, duplicate bridge and dog obedience training. Youth sports programs at the Field House include instructional soccer for preschoolers, intramural soccer, basketball and baseball for elementary & middle school age youth, and girl's softball (ages 8-15).
