Ann Herman Neighborhood Park is intended to preserve and reclaim one acre of disturbed vacant land, giving greater water access for the public at the Chula Vista Canal flowing to the South Fork of the New River in the Chula Vista Isles neighborhood. Coontie Hatchee Park, a conservation area, is planned with the intent of preserving 2.6 acres of the remnant pine flatwood community while providing passive outdoor recreation opportunities to the public. 8.15 acre Cypress Creek Sand Pine Preserve will remain a conservation preserve/area with passive recreational opportunities for the public. 1/4 acre Dolphin Isles Neighborhood Park will be developed on the current site of a duplex and serve Dolphin Isles community residents. 1 acre Esterre Davis Wright Neighborhood Park, in the River Oaks neighborhood and obtained through an agreement with the Georgian Oaks developer, will feature a walking trail and include parking. 1 acre Flagler Heights Neighborhood Park, funded through a joint collaboration of Broward County, the City of Fort Lauderdale and the City of Fort Lauderdale Community Redevelopment Authority, will feature a small playground, park benches and landscaping with native plants. 1 acre Harbordale Neighborhood Park has developed and vacant property and will serve the southeast part of Fort Lauderdale. 2-acre North Fork Riverfront Park features a mangrove and pond apple riparian swamp habitat suitable to the endangered Florida manatee and several birds listed as Species of Special concern. The park, which will undergo clean up, wetland restoration and construction of fencing & a catwalk, has 550 feet of sandy beach frontage along the New River that will provide public access to its North Fork and offer a canoe/kayak landing. 1.27 acre Sailboat Bend Preserve Park, a live oak hammock preserve, will be partially landscaped with native plant material and developed as a passive recreational area. 6.2 acre Warbler Wetlands conservation site, will be city-developed and managed, primarily as an ecological preserve, and secondarily as a passive recreational, educational, and wildlife management area. The Florence Hardy Park Addition, funded through a Florida Communities Trust Grant, the County Bond and City of Fort Lauderdale funds, will include a small and medium picnic pavilion, a children's inclusive playground, and a 1/2 mile trail with three fitness stations that will meander through a native plant garden. The Mills Pond addition project, a county-owned 23 acre conservation site with bottomland forest, strand swamp, and hydric hammock, will be restored and provided physical improvements by the county, then city-managed as a natural area with some passive recreation opportunities. Facilities for dogs at city parks include Canine Beach Days (pets allowed from the centerline of Sunrise Boulevard at A1A north 100 yards on the beach, Fri/Sat/Sun, 3-7 PM during the winter, 5-9 PM during the summer); Riverwalk Linear Park Days (Along the New River in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, all day, every day); and Bark Park at Snyder Park, 954-828-4343 (Two acres of fenced area and agility courses for dogs, open all year except for Christmas Day & New Years Day, 7 AM-6:30 PM Nov.-Mar., 7 AM-7:30 PM Apr.-Oct.). Country Club Circle Linear Park, 4520 East Country Club Circle, features a 1.85 mile Linear Trail around Fort Lauderdale Country Club Golf Course. Multicultural Park, 460 NW 43rd Ave, features a multicultural, global garden using plants native to the home lands of the neighborhood's residents and decorated on entrance columns and the rear wall with artwork by neighborhood school children and local artist Beth Ravitz. Camp Everglades, a one-acre play area at Volunteer Park, 12050 W. Sunrise Blvd, offers customized playground equipment with an Everglades theme, walkways, plantings, and irrigation. Seminole Middle School, 6200 SW 16th St, a joint use park with the Broward County School Board, features softball/soccer fields (Pop Travers Field) used by the school during the day and by Plantation Athletic League in the evenings and on weekends. Texaco Trailhead, 4680 N.W. 9th Court, features a 100 square-foot shelter, a 1200 square-foot tot lot area, benches, bike racks, interpretive signage, a drinking fountain, a neighborhood sign, a decorative fence, a central turf area surrounded by a turf knoll and 4 on-street parking spaces. This park has access to a future C-12 Canal Multi Use Recreational Trail (MURT). Veterans Park, 1776 Lauderdale West Dr, features a memorial wall with dedication plaques and a memorial column and hosts Plantation's annual Veterans Memorial Event. 4.98 acre Liberty Tree Park, 7421 NW 5th St, newly acquired by the city, hosts the annual juried art festival "Art in the Park" and features an old fashioned gazebo that is available for weddings or other special events. Plans for this park's development are underway. Deicke Park, 1200 NW 106th Ave, hosts various canine events and activities throughout the year. Plantation Athletic League Field & Roy Salmon Stadium (seating for 4,000) is used by local high schools and the Plantation Athletic League. Seminole Park, 6600 SW 16th St, houses Happy Tails Dog Park and features large open spaces, picnic facilities including a double pavilion with a large barbeque grill and picnic tables, and a footbridge across a canal that leads to Pop Travers Field. Happy Tails Dog Park, open daily from 7:00 AM until dusk, houses the Plantation Canine Unit and features three distinct activity areas: a leash free run and fun area for large dogs, an exercise area ideal for agility training and an area for smaller dogs (twenty-five pounds or less). Plantation Central Park, 9151 NW 2nd St, houses a two-story recreation center that features a gym, classrooms, an exercise room with cardio/fitness equipment, locker and shower/restroom facilities, a game room and vending machines. Fitness Center Memberships are available to residents & non-residents. Game room is free to residents, daily fee to non-residents, youth or adult. Gym use is free to youth under 18, daily fee for resident adults, non-resident youth and adults. A corporate pavilion is available for event rentals. Frank Veltri Tennis Center is also located on the grounds at 9101 NW 2nd St, 954-452-2530. The Tennis Center features 26 lighted Har-Tru tennis courts & 2 lighted hard courts, which can be reserved.
