Peckham Park. All of the parks feature playground facilities. Most offer picnic
tables, some have BBQ grills and/or pits, two parks feature a covered
basketball pavilion and ball fields. Katy

community building for indoor activities. VFW
Park also offers a picnic pavilion,
sand volleyball courts and museums. Thomas Park, Third
Street and Avenue, features a paved walking path,
benches, and gazebo. Mary Jo Peckham
Park, 5597 Gardenia Lane,
281-391-4482, is county-owned & operated. This park is designed for
children with physical impairments (though intended for all children), and is
completely handicapped accessible, with an indoor pool, miniature golf, picnic
tables, large covered pavilion, gazebo, lake and fishing pier, lighted and
paved jogging trail, and community center offering a variety of fitness
activities and classes. Harvest Plaza,
at 5701 Third Street in
downtown Katy on Public Square,
offers benches, fountains, and commemorative brick pavers, and is available to
be reserved for outdoor functions. Katy Heritage Park, 5990 George Bush Drive,
a joint project of the City of Katy and the Katy Heritage Society, features
restored historic buildings: Featherston House and Wright House, both from
1898; Stockdick House from 1916, Old Katy Post Office from pre-1920, and Humble
Gas Plant “Mess Hall” from 1943. The park also features Tradition Bank
Bandstand, a Pavilion, and the City Christmas Tree. Restored homes are open for
tours the first weekend of each month. Railroad
Park Information & Tourist
Center, 5615
First Street, is a "pocket park",
located downtown, featuring a restored Missouri-Kansas-Texas Depot, information
center with brochures and maps, Katy Heritage
Society Railroad
Museum and authentic red caboose,
and a landscaped area with benches and a town clock. The Information and Tourist
Center is open Tuesday through
Saturday.
