Recreational facilities in Galveston include 12 Parks, 11 athletic fields, 16 tennis courts, and a golf course. Wright Cuney Park, 718 41st St, 409-766-2140, is the site for a number of summer recreational programs and activities, including arts & crafts, computers, karate & boxing, gymnastics & cheerleading, basketball, volleyball, board games, pool & foosball. Ball High School, 4115 Ave O, offers an open weight room weekday mornings and mid-late afternoons. Swimming lessons and open pool hours are available weekdays at Central Middle School, 3014 Sealy. Open gym is offered at L.A. Morgan and Alamo Elementary Schools. Tennis classes are offered weekday mornings at Lasker Park, 2104 43rd St, 409-621-3177. Recreational programs are also offered throughout the year. Galveston Island Golf Course, 1700 Sydnor Lane, 409-741-4626, features an 18-hole championship golf course, driving range, practice facility, snack bar and pro shop. Dellanera RV Park, R.A. Apffel East Beach Park, Seawolf Park on Pelican Island, and Stewart Beach are situated along the Gulf and provide opportunities for swimming, sunbathing and surfing.

Recreational facilities in League City include The Sportsplex, 1251 Link Rd; City Pool, 450 W Walker; Bayridge Park, FM 1266 at Mariner Dr; Helen’s Garden, corner of 701 E Main & S. Kansas; Rustic Oaks Park, and League Park. The Sportsplex is suitable for

football, soccer, baseball, softball and volleyball, featuring multi-use field, pavilions for organized sports and batting cages for baseball. Municipal Pool is open to residents and the public on a pass or daily fee admission basis and offers swimming lessons for all ability levels and ages, as well as a water aerobics class. The pool is available during designated times for private parties. League Park features a band stand (gazebo), basketball courts, picnic areas, benches, playground equipment, exercise stations, concession stand and rest rooms, and can be reserved for birthday parties, weddings and other occasions. Bayridge Park features a softball field, basketball court and playground area, and can be reserved for team practices. Rustic Oaks Park offers a small pavilion, volleyball court, tennis courts, practice fields, fishing pond, trails, playground equipment and bird viewing areas. Countryside Park features softball fields, soccer/football field, sports pavilion (basketball/volleyball), picnic areas, playgrounds along the nature fitness trail, and restrooms; and is available by reservation for company picnics, family gatherings, tournaments, and team practices. Recreation programs in League City include summer day camp, a program sponsored jointly by the City of League City Parks and Recreation Department and the Clear Creek Independent School District. Recreational Camp ("Camp by the Creek") programs (five 2-week sessions) are held at various schools in the district, within the hours of 9:00-4:00 (extended before- & after-camp care is available from 7-9 AM & 4-6 PM) for children ages 6-13. Other youth programs during the summer include Basketball League, Baseball League, Volleyball League,

Baseball Camp, T-Ball, Tennis (Classes & Camp), Skyhawks Sports Camps-baseball, basketball, and soccer (sponsor: Skyhawks Sports Academy), Arts & Crafts Classes, Ballet Workshops, Ballet/Tap Classes (Houston International Ballet Academy Studio, 301 Hwy. 3 North), and Beginner Gymnastics. Fall youth programs include Girl's ASA Softball League, and Soccer League. Karate is a year round program, with classes at the Fitness Center Gym at South Shore Harbor, 300 Invincible (Behind McDonalds on FM 2094) or one of the CCISD schools. Adult activities include Men's Flag Football League and special events such as Celebrity Murder Mystery Dinner Theater. Annual special events for children/youth include Egg Hunt, and Pitch, Hit, & Run Baseball Competition. All ages can enjoy the Spring Arts and Craft Show, and Concerts in the Park.

Recreation Facilities include 42 parks located throughout the city, ranging in size from 1/4 acre to 55 acres, 3 city-operated gyms, a golf course, and 4 meeting facilities. The parks collectively offer such amenities as playgrounds, tennis and basketball court, swimming pools, baseball fields, and picnic areas. Charles T. Doyle Convention Center, which opened to the public on January 1, 2000 can accommodate up to 1,400 people for a variety of functions, such as concerts, receptions, trade shows, exhibits, catered events, and teleconferencing. Nessler Center, which is adjacent to the convention center, hosts craft shows, banquets, training schools, and programs for all ages, from pre-school to senior citizen. Sanders Center, a neighborhood center, can accommodate small meetings, youth parties, showers, and receptions. Carver Center, an open-air pavilion facility, can host banquets, meetings, and dances, and is often rented for family reunions. Texas City Museum, has exhibits on subjects including history, science, technology, education, and culture. This 30,000 square foot two-story building acquired in March, 1992, can accommodate up to 300 people, dinner seating for up to 100, and a meeting room for 40 people. The 6,600 sq. ft Showboat Pavilion offers a built-in stage, space for up to 500 guests indoors, and an open-air setting for larger gatherings. Lowry Fitness Center offers swimming, racquetball, gym, tennis courts, aerobic and exercise classes, and a fitness trail. Bayou Golf Course, 2800 Ted Dudley Drive, offers a full-size course and clubhouse. Summer day camps are available for children/youth at various locations throughout the city.

Recreational facilities in Santa Fe include the Thelma Webber Community Center, corner of Jackson Ave & Beriton St, and Mae S. Bruce Park, 12002 Highway 6, which features a gazebo. The community center, designated sections of the park, and the gazebo, can be reserved for use by private, commercial or nonprofit organizations.

Recreational facilities in La Marque include the "Community Room", 1109-B Bayou Rd (between City Hall and the Central Fire Station), and Highland Bayou Park Pavilion, 1801 IH45 (Gulf Freeway). The community room is available to rent by individuals, groups or organizations for meetings, parties, and other functions.
