Recreational facilities/areas in Waxahachie include Grove, Mustang, Waxahachie & Prong Creeks, Lake Waxahachie, 23 developed & undeveloped parks, including 8 neighborhood parks (7 developed), 4 community parks (3 developed, including Waxahachie Sports Complex, which offers venues for soccer, softball, baseball and football), 8 special purpose/pocket parks (all developed), 3 linear parks (2 developed, includes the Waxahachie Creek Hike & Bike Trail). The neighborhood parks collectively feature playground equipment, unlit sports practice fields (baseball, soccer, football, softball), unlit tennis & basketball courts, free play areas, picnic areas & pavilions, jogging/exercise trails and security lighting. The community parks collectively feature playground equipment, lit ball-fields for competitive events/games, lit multi-purpose sports practice fields, free play areas, picnic areas with benches, tables and grills, shaded pavilions & gazebos, jogging, bike or nature trails, restrooms and security lighting. Getzendamer Community Park serves as an entrance to Waxahachie's trail system, and houses Chataqua Auditorium, a historic structure now used for private, community and civic gatherings and festivals. Lions Community Park hosts softball & soccer activities and is a starting point, complete with parking, a playground and a large pavilion, for the town's Hike & Bike Trail. Lee Penn Park houses a public pool. Jetti, Spring and Boat Dock Parks offer facilities for water activities, collectively featuring boat ramps and fishing & swimming areas, as well as picnic tables and public restrooms. School facilities are also used for recreational purposes for the community during non-school hours.

Recreation facilities in Ennis include Ennis Community Center, 301 W Crockett St, 972-875-0442; Pierce Park, 200 NW Main St; and Cerf, Jaycee, Kiwanis, Lake Clark, Mott, Roger Maise, Kiwanis, Little Mustang Creek, Bluebonnet, Lion's, John & Susie Garrett, Minnie McDowell, Storey and Willy Love Parks. The 17 parks collectively feature Picnic Facilities (Group Pavilions, Shelters, Tables, BBQ Grills), Lighted Baseball/ Softball Fields, Lighted Soccer Fields, Lighted Tennis Courts, Play Equipment (Swings, Climbers, Slides), Benches, Landscaped Areas, Basketball Courts, Backstops, Basketball Goals, Walking/Jogging Paths and Restrooms. Bluebonnet Park also features Concession/Restroom Buildings, Modular Play Areas, Walking/Jogging Paths, and a Fishing Lake, with a Handicapped-Accessible Fishing Area. Jaycee Park offers Fishing on City Lake. Lake Clark Park features a Fishing Pier, Boat Dock & Ramp. Green Valley Park's playground equipment includes Animal Riders. Community Park houses the Community Center. Recreation activities in Ennis include swimming, tennis and other sports, at locations including an Outdoor Olympic Size Swimming Pool, 2104 W. Ennis Ave, 972-875-9144 and Lion Tennis Center (owned by Ennis Independent School District). Privately owned All Star Bowl, 2303 W. Ennis Ave, 972-878-9304, offers bowling, pool tables and video games.

Recreational facilities in Midlothian include Midlothian Sports Complex and 8 parks, which collectively feature Picnic Tables, Playgrounds, Baseball/Softball fields, Drinking Fountains and Restrooms. Civic Center Park features multi-purpose fields; Hawkins Springs Park offers soccer fields, benches, shade tress and a concession stand; Hawkins Springs Park houses Larkin Newton Log Cabin (built in 1848) and features a walking path. Jaycee Park offers a playground fort structure. Fenced-in Kimmel Park features a gazebo. Margie Webb Park houses a pavilion. 25-acre Midlothian Sports Complex, 1000 S. 14th St, features Soccer Fields, Ball Fields, Tennis Fields, Sand Volleyball and Basketball Court, Bleachers, Concession Stand and Lighting. Local sports groups include Midlothian Amateur Baseball Association, Midlothian Girls Softball, Midlothian Soccer Association, Midlothian Tennis Association, Midlothian Youth Basketball Association, Midlothian Youth Football Association, and Midlothian Wrestling Club, all of whom sponsor leagues/teams.
