Dallas Independent School District operates 233 schools covering grades PK-12, which serve 160,969 students in Dallas and surrounding communities. 198 schools are elementary level (generally grades PK-5 or PK-6), 49 are middle schools (generally grades 6-8 or 7-8) and 38 are high schools (generally grades 9-12).
