CARE about academics-NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON AWARD for academic excellence; TERRA
NOVA scores in top 10% nationally; Science Olympiad Team State of IL qualifier
for the past 10 years-2011 winner of 4th place of regionals for Science
Olympiad and Spirit Award Winner; every eighth grader in Algebra, Honors
Algebra, or Honors Geometry; starting in Kindergarten all students have French
and Spanish foreign language instruction twice a week. Starting in 6th grade,
foreign language instruction increases with a choice of French, Spanish, or
Latin. We have a balanced approach-reading with phonics and high quality
literature; balanced instruction-direct instruction and independent discover
centers starting in preschool; whole class instruction and small group
activities. We have small class sizes 14-23 per room; pupil teacher ratio 1 to
11. We differentiate instruction in Pre-K to 5th and ability group for core
subjects in middle school. WE CARE about
morals--religion classes and prayers daily; character education daily,
anti-bullying programs for every grade PreK-8th. WE CARE about fine arts--art, music, and drama instruction for all
grades PreK-8th. WE CARE about
technology--state of the art resources; new Reed Media Center, computer lab
with internet, Mini Macs lab, i-pads, state of the art science lab, 5
interactive boards and LCD projectors in every room; Discover Education
