Acacia Academy
is a small private school serving special needs students who have learning
disabilities and/or attention deficit disorder, as well as gifted children.
Established in 1971 by Kathryn Fouks, Acacia
Academy offers a highly
individualized, age appropriate curriculum, supplemented with field trips.
Tutoring is available after-school and on Saturdays through the Achievement
Center program, which starts with a
series of tests to define a student's strengths and weaknesses. Early
Achievement Centers, with locations on the main campus and in Joliet,
provide preschool, Kindergarten and child care programs from 7 AM-6 PM Monday-Friday. School grounds include
a 2 1/2 acre nature center, picnic & recreational areas and playground, and
the building features a library and computer lab. Acacia
Academy is accredited by the North
Central Association of Colleges & Schools (NCACS).
