Recreational facilities in Brookline include 7 community parks, 13 neighborhood parks and playgrounds, 10 school playgrounds, and 10 passive recreation parks. The community parks & neighborhood parks/playgrounds collectively feature Baseball/Little League Fields, Softball Fields, Soccer Fields, Basketball & Tennis Courts, Playgrounds, Swing Sets, Sandboxes, Spray Pools, Benches, Picnic Tables and Off Leash Hours for dogs. Harry Downes Field also features a track. Some of the neighborhood parks/playgrounds offer game tables and/or bike racks. The new William H. Lincoln/playground features a Multi-use Field. Longwood playground offers Separate Toddler & School age Play Areas and a Pedestrian Path. The 10 passive parks collectively feature benches and 2 have picnic tables as well. Dane Park is a wooded area and Eliot Street Park features a number of mature oak trees. 123-acre Putterham Meadows Golf Course features an 18-hole course, putting green, practice chipping green, lessons areas, clubhouse and pro shop. Recreation programs for adults include sports classes & leagues (hockey, golf, tennis, soccer, men's & co-ed softball, co-ed basketball, swimming, co-ed soccer) and informal play (basketball); dog obedience, fitness, aqua aerobics/water exercise. Seniors can participate in the activities/events of the Golden Age Club of Brookline. Various trips, special events and programs include the Brookline Flag Day 5K Road Race in June, the Mohegan Sun Casino trip, Six Flags New England Theme Park excursion, Earth Day Celebration and the Community Gardens program. Aquatics programs include group swim lessons for all ages and ability levels, from infant through adults, private swim lessons, diving lessons (novice, advanced, competitive) and youth swim teams. Youth sports programs include tennis lessons, golf clinics at Brookline Golf Club, skating clinics at Larz Anderson Rink and soccer, volleyball, basketball, lacrosse and girl's softball leagues and/or instruction. Various youth sports organizations in Brookline also sponsor programs, including Youth Hockey (BYH), Youth Baseball and Pop Warner Football. Other youth activities include nature explorations for children class, nature-oriented summer camps and school break activities, general recreation summer camps (programs for ages 5-6, 7-9, and 10-13), school vacation week program, after school recreation, chess, and physics in motion class. Soule Early Childhood Center (S.E.C.C.), 652 Hammond St, 617-739-7598 offers a program for preschool age children. Recreation Activities for Teens (R.A.F.T.) offers a Teen Center and use of the Soule Gym and includes events such as Dances. Sports programs for teens include soccer, volleyball, basketball and softball. Nature/science programs/events include Maple Sugaring, Amphibian Night, Nature Art Series (Digital Photography, Nature Sculpture, Landscape Painting, Sketchbook Journaling with ink and water color), First Fridays Family Nature Night and Interpretive Nature Walks for Seniors. Family events include Family Fun Welcome Back Weekend and Family Fun Friday Night. The American Red Cross offers several classes including CPR for the Professional Rescuer Recertification, Lifeguard Training Course & Recertification, Standard First Aid, Adult, Child & Infant CPR/AED & Review and Babysitters Training. The Therapeutic program for special needs individuals age 6 & up provides athletics in partnership with Special Olympics, as well as a Teen Social group for ages 13-17 (new program piloted in Fall 2006).

The Quincy Recreation Department offers program year round for all ages. Facilities include the community pool at Lincoln Hancock Elementary School, which offers recreational swimming on weekday evenings & Sunday afternoons and an Instructional Swimming Program during July & August. Summer activities include the Supervised Playgrounds program, the William F. Ryan Boating & Sailing Program, Clinics and Workshops, Arts in the Park, Summer Concerts and programming for Special Needs individuals. Winter Recreation includes Supervised Gyms after school, Evenings & Saturdays, Instructional Ice Skating & Skiing, Women's Fitness, Men's Basketball and programming for Special Needs individuals. Additional youth-oriented programming includes Track, Baseball, Soccer, and The Koch Club; activities for adults include Men's & Women's Softball and Quincy Symphony Orchestra; Quincy Art Association provides programs intended for all ages. Special events throughout the year include Hershey Track and Field, Flag Day Parade, Senior Olympic Games, Cleaner, Greener Quincy, Annual Tennis Tournament, Elk's National Free Throw Tournament, Art's Fest and First Night.

Recreational classes/activities in Weymouth include Beginner Guitar Lessons (age 9 & up), Chess Club, Family Music, Archery (age 7 & up), Fencing (age 9 & up), Martial Arts (age 7 & up), Play Gym, Pre-School Music, and Blue Hills Skiing & Snowboarding (transportation is provided to and from the site from the teen center for class participants). Most classes meet at Weymouth Teen Center, inside the main recreation center. The Martial Arts, Archery and Fencing programs are held at the McCulloch Building, 182 Green St, off Merryknoll Road in North Weymouth. South Shore School of Performing Arts offers Dance (Hip Hop) and Theater (production of Pinocchio) programs for children at the Abigail Adams School (auditorium). School vacation programs, such as cheerleading and hip hop dance, are offered for children ages 5-9 and meet at Pilgrim Church. The Wey-Rec Program offers classes that children ages 6 & up can participate in on a flexible schedule including morning or afternoon sessions or full day program all week, along with extended care. Activities include arts and crafts, breakfast club, balloon art, chess, dodgeball, dancing, face, painting, flag football, hair braiding, floor hockey, karaoke, and kickball. Great Esker Park hosts several summer programs for preschoolers and elementary school age children, who participate in activities such as biking, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Pond Meadow Park offers a Summer Nature Program. The Recreation Division also offers the Exceptional Program for children with Downs Syndrome & High Functioning Autism.

Recreational facilities in Marshfield include 2 parks, a playground, 2 beaches and a street hockey/basketball complex. Both parks and the playground have picnic tables, swings, open field and a bike rack. Peter-Igo Park, at Marshall Ave & Dyke Rd, also features a lighted basketball court & two lighted tennis courts (open on summer nights and Saturday evenings through October). Tower Avenue Park, Colonial Rd & Tower Ave, also offers a Tee Ball Field, basketball court and merry-go-round. The street hockey/basketball complex offers 2 basketball courts and a street hockey rink. Marshfield Hills Playground, Old Main St at the Fire station, also features a 1/2 basketball court and a see saw. Both beaches are lifeguard supervised. Green Harbor Beach, Beach St & Bay Ave, can be reached by Beach Street extension via boardwalk. Rexhame Beach, Standish St off of Ocean St, offers a snack bar, bathrooms, basketball court, picnic tables and parking attendant. A surf chair (wheel chair) is available for individuals with mobility impairments.

Recreation programs in Marshfield include Marshfield Recreation Preschool, 14 Library Plaza, 781-837-8058, which operates during the school year for children ages 3-4 and an extended school day program for children in grades K-5, which meets at Governor Winslow and Martinson Elementary Schools (students from other schools are transported to the child care facility at14 Library Plaza or Martinson School). The department also offers Wrestling at Whidden's School of Fitness, 822 Webster St for boys ages 5-13, Girls Karate for ages 5-13 at the same location, Kids Night out on Fridays for ages 5-11 at the recreation child care center, Fencing for students age 10 & up and their parent(s) at Marshfield High School gym and several programs at Furnace Brook Middle School for students in grades 6-8: Volleyball for girls, Sewing/Knitting class, Strength & Conditioning and Babysitting Training. An after-school sports program for grades 3-5 meets at Eames Way & Martinson Schools and offers large group activities such as kickball, soccer, capture the flag and scooter ball. Joseph & Mary Vendetti Playground, designed for ages 2-5 and ADA compliant, features swings, 3 spring animals (whale, porpoise, Clifford "the big red dog"), three slides with a rock climbing wall and a suspended bridge. Recreational facilities in Needham include youth baseball diamonds, adult softball diamonds, multi-purpose fields, basketball & tennis courts, playgrounds and picnic areas (some with grills). 2 parks (De Fazio & Memorial) offer public restrooms; De Fazio Park also offers a tot lot and Memorial Park offers a track. Pollard Middle School has a paved area for in-line skates and Walker-Gordon Field offers a pond for fishing. Playground structures at each park are designed for preschool and/or elementary school age children. Other recreation areas include Ridge Hill, various Town Forest Trails, which facilitate walking, cross-country skiing, and mountain biking, and Cutler State Park, which features walking trails. Rosemary Pool, a 300 foot by 70 foot pool built into Rosemary Lake and partly surrounded with sand, has shallow water at the front for young children, lap lanes for swimming laps and water walking, a diving section on the left and a concrete pathway leading directly into the pool for swimmers with disabilities.  The pool also features a bathhouse with showers, a picnic area adjacent to a small playground area and a private concessionaire open most public hours. Swim lessons are available and the pool hosts swim meets (usually on Tuesday or Thursday evening). Sports organizations in Needham include St. Joseph’s Basketball, Needham Basketball Association, Junior Football, Needham Youth Hocke, Needham Girls Lacross, Needham Boys Lacrosse (Travel), Needham Boys Lacrosse (In-Town), Needham Soccer Club, St. Bart’s Soccer, Needham Girls Softball, Needham Little Leagu, Needham Summer Baseball, Rookie League Baseball, Farm League Baseball, American Legion Baseball, Needham Swim Association and Needham Track Club. Recreation programs in Stoughton during the fall, winter, and spring, through the Community Services department, include beginner & intermediate gymnastics, adult, senior and children's ceramic programs, arts and crafts for children, studio production, drama, bowling, and various sports clinics and art workshops. Skiing and snowboarding at Blue Hills Ski Area is offered to youth for a five-week period in January on Thursday afternoons. During the summer one of the elementary schools hosts a 6-week open playground program for children ages 6-14, a pre-playground program for children ages 4-5 and a program for children with special needs. The waterfront area at Ames Pond also offers supervised swimming and Red Cross certified swimming lessons and hosts a swim team that holds weekly swim meets. Recreational facilities include newly renovated Halloran Park, which will feature lighted walking paths, a picnic area, horseshoe pit, basketball court and open grass area for passive recreation; new playgrounds and outdoor basketball courts at all six elementary schools and the West School Athletic Complex, a 12-acre complex of softball, soccer, and baseball fields with a walking/jogging path. Stoughton High School complex offers a skateboard park that is open during the day. Other recreation facilities include the Pop Warner Football Field, Men's Slo-Pitch Field, Youth Soccer Fields and the Little League Complex, all of which are licensed for use to those organizations.

The Wellesley Recreation Department offers a variety of recreational programming and continuing education classes for adults including aerobics/fitness, cooking, public speaking, arts & crafts, music, yoga, dance, karate, nature, computer, photography, dog/puppy obedience, first aid/CPR and online classes. Youth classes also include music, arts & crafts, yoga, dance and cooking, as well as acting, etiquette (manners), gymnastics, horseback riding, sports (multi-sports, flag football, golf, basketball, t-ball, baseball, soccer, archery, fencing, tennis), mad science, electronic lab, babysitter training with infant/child CPR/first aid, literacy fundamentals, Spanish, chess, gardening, SAT Prep. Preschool/primary school programs include Puddlestompers (Nature Exploration), Tot Time (parent-child), Royal Tea Party (manners), Creative Movement/Art, Mom/Baby Yoga, Preschool Vacation Program (AM Camp, ext day available on TTH) and Lunch Bunch. Summer camps include Camp Joey (ages 5-8) & Camp Quest (ages 9-13) at Wellesley High School, Project Extreme (ages 13-14) at Warren Recreation Building, Skyhawks sports camps (ages 3 1/2-14), Thundercat Sports (ages 7-14, basketball & multi-sports) and Club Invention (Science, grades 1-6, 1-week in early August). Sports organizations active in Wellesley include Wellesley Little League/Girls Softball, Wellesley United Soccer, Wellesley Lacrosse and Adult Softball. Wellesley Shooting Stars program provides therapeutic recreation classes, such as cooking, sports and yoga for children/young adults with special needs (ages 10-15 or 10-22).
