Recreation facilities in Newton County include 158 acre, handicapped accessible Turner Lake Complex, which features a 26 acre lake, 34,000 square foot recreation building, gymnasium, senior center, meeting room that can accommodate over 275 people, lighted softball fields with a concessions/scorekeepers building, bathroom facility, youth football/cheerleading field with a scorekeeper/bathroom building, tot-lot/playground, covered pavilion, walking trail, picnic area and cement-mounted batting cages.
80 acre, handicapped accessible City Pond Complex offers lighted youth baseball fields, lighted football field, lighted tennis courts, cement-mounted batting cages, picnic pavilion, tot-Lot/playground and a three story concession with a meeting room and restrooms. The facility hosts the Dixie Boys World Series event. 2.5 acre Conyers Street Gym and Baker Field, 1146 Conyers St in Covington, 770-786-4373, features a gym and a baseball or softball practice field. 14.5 acre Stone Road Complex offers an adult softball complex with lighted fields (Hamm Fields), concessions, scorekeeper, tot-lot/playground and restrooms. 2.5 acre Pactiv Field features a softball/football field and bathroom facilities. RotaDyne and Anderson Fields both house a practice and playing field for younger children (age 5-8); Anderson Field also offers a walking trail, picnic area, tot-lot/playground and youth practice fields. 2 acre Spillers Park features a walking trail, picnic area and tot-lot/playground. 10 acre Beaver Park, located in eastern Newton County (Mansfield/Newborn area) features a 2 acre passive green field, community ball field, tennis court, pavilion picnic area and tot-lot/playground. 2 acre Mary Louise Fowler Park, in central Newton County, offers a walking trail, a basketball court and a tennis court. 3 acre B. C. Crowell Park, also in central Newton County (Porterdale), features a community ball field, tot-lot/playground, picnic area and pavilion. 2 acre Trail Blazers Park offers a playground, picnic pavilion, covered basketball court and landscaped garden. Oak Hill Playground features a picnic pavilion. Regional Denny Dobbs Park will be under construction, with its first phase to feature pavilions, playgrounds, trails, basketball courts, landscaping, and a new interactive play game called NEOS. The Oaks Golf Course, 11240 Brown Bridge Road in Covington, 770-786-3801, offers a pro shop and restaurant; programs offered include lessons, clinics and tournament play. Recreation Programs in Newton County include adult softball, women's golf, youth sports (golf, basketball, cheerleading, football, girl's softball, boys baseball, tennis), martial arts, line dance classes, stroller fitness, walking club, yoga and summer day camps. All programs except for summer camp meet at Conyers Street gym; that program is held at Turner Lake Complex.
