Fulton County Public Schools operates 92 schools covering
grades PK-12, which serve 81,982 students in the City of Atlanta, the
communities of Johns Creek, Roswell, Alpharetta, East Point, College Park,
Union City, Fairburn, Palmetto and Hapeville, and all unincorporated areas. 55
schools are elementary level (PK-5 or K-5), 21 are middle schools (6-8) and 12
are high schools (9-12), including McClarin
Alternative School, which has an enrollment of 308 students. Amana Academy
serves grades K-7, Kipps South Fulton Academy
(Charter) is for grades 5-8 and Hapeville Charter Middle School enrolls
students in grades 6-7. Independence Alternative School takes in grades 7-12.
South Fulton Crossroads/Second Chance Programs encompass grades 6-12.
Renaissance Elementary and Teach Charter High both encompass grades K-12. 7
high schools offer small specialized or alternative programs. Student/teacher
ratio is 14:1 (district-wide). The district employs 5,980 classroom teachers,
617 support personnel, and 360 administrators. 49% of teachers have a Bachelors
Degree only, 45% have a Masters Degree. Per Pupil cost is $9,058. A variety of
programs, services, and personnel are provided for Limited English Speaking
(LEP), Gifted & Talented and Special Needs students. 6% of students are
