Recreation facilities in Douglas County include 500-acre Boundary Waters Park, which features multi-use equestrian trails, hiking trails and picnic and playground area and houses an Aquatic Center and a softball/baseball complex. A tennis complex and football/soccer stadium/track) are under construction. The Boundary Waters Aquatic Center, 5000 Georgia Highway 92 North/166 East in Douglasville, 770-489-2175, features an 8-lane, 25-yard heated competition pool, and a 4-lane, heated therapeutic/teaching pool. Daily admission rates, quarterly and annual passes are available, facilities are available for rental. 900 acre Dog River Park, located in southern Douglas County off Georgia Highways 166 and 5, is intended as a passive recreation area, with future plans for trails with trailheads, parking and public access to the river, plus some active recreational areas. Fairplay, Bill Arp, Woodrow Wilson, Lithia Springs Girls, Post Road, Winston and Mt. Carmel Ball Parks collectively feature ball fields (softball, baseball, football), tennis courts (some lighted), playgrounds, meeting rooms, concession stands and restrooms. Fairplay Park is home to the Fairplay Youth Association. Deer Lick Park, 2171 Mack Rd in Douglasville, 770-577-5596, features Skateboarding, Mini Golf, Bocce and Batting Cages. 200-acre Clinton Nature Preserve, located on Ephesus Church Road one mile west of Post Road, features nature trails, open exploration areas, a walking track that encircles the Junior League ADA accessible playground, and Carnes Cabin, a pre-Civil War residence listed on the National Register of Historic Places, located one mile into the woods (accessible by hiking). Woodie Fite Senior Center, 8750 Dorris Road adjacent to the Douglas County Courthouse, 678-626-5630, is open weekdays and offers a variety of classes/activities, including Computer Courses such as Intro to Personal Computers and Internet/email; Fitness Programs/Facilities, such as Focusing on Fitness, Walking & Hiking Club, an Exercise Room featuring a treadmill, elliptical trainer and recumbent bike, Jazzercise Lite, Yoga & Adaptive Yoga, and Strength Training;  Dance Lessons, such as Ballroom Dancing, Beginners & Advanced Line Dancing, Beginners & Intermediate Tap Dancing, Ballet and Square Dancing; Arts & Crafts, such as Scrapbooking-Creative Memories workshops, Beginning & Intermediate Acrylic Painting and Portrait Classes. Social activities/organizations include Social Clubs, Tea Timers Afternoon Tea Club, AARP, Garden Sunshine Circle, Bunco, Vietnam Veterans of America, Red hat Society, Cards, Euchre, Bridge, Pinochle, Samba and Canasta. Special events include Dances on the 1st, 3rd & 5th Saturdays of every month,

Sock Hop, Ice Cream Social, Grandparents Day, Veterans Day luncheon, Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, Free Self Defense Seminar, and Douglas Senior Picnic. Other recreation programs include summer day camps; youth & adult activities and sports leagues and tournaments. Various area youth associations use the parks in cooperation with the recreation dept to provide supervised activities.

Recreation facilities in Douglasville include West Pines Golf Club (9090 Rose Ave, 678-391-1600), Fowler Field Soccer Complex, and five parks (Jessie Davis Memorial, Keith, Mill Village, Robert G. Hunter Memorial and Worthan Parks), which collectively feature ball fields, gym, playgrounds, picnic shelters, swimming pools, miniature train, fishing lake, walking track, fitness course, green space, specialty facilities and recreation activity centers. Recreation programs include youth sports (baseball, soccer, girls softball), adult sports (softball), swimming, tennis, golf, fitness classes (jazzercise, ultimate fitness camp), martial arts (karate), youth programs/classes (Irish dancing, junior jazzercise, tumbling, tutoring, etiquette/manners, acting, gang prevention), summer day camps. Sports organizations include Hunter Park Youth Baseball, Douglas County Soccer Association and Douglasville Girls Softball. Sports classes include Start Smart Sports and T-Bird Tennis.
