Recreation facilities in Coweta County include 10 parks,
Pickett Field, Richard Allen Drive Pool, Clay-Wood Community Center, Hunter
Complex and Temple Avenue Complex. Clay-Wood Community Center, 135 Heery Rd in Newnan, 678-552-2530, features one building
housing a community center with a learning lab, conference room, kitchen and a
large meeting room, which are available for rental, a second building housing a
gym with a weight room, locker rooms and a basketball court, and outdoor
features including a playground, tennis courts, a basketball court and a
pavilion with picnic tables. 54 acre Hunter Complex, 2970 E Hwy 16 in
Sharpsburg, 770-254-3740, offers football fields, a gym, adult softball fields,
a special needs field, youth baseball/softball fields, a walking trail and
tennis courts. Temple Avenue Complex features a gym, meeting rooms, a kitchen,
tennis courts, a football field, baseball fields, a softball field and an
outdoor pavilion; and houses the Asa M. Powell, Sr.
Expo Center, the Tommy Thompson Senior Center, the Art House and The Johnny
Brown Center, which hosts meetings and classes, like dog obedience, square
dance, & baton. The recreation dept sponsors various team sports (youth
& adult basketball, volleyball, flag football-ages 5-9, tackle
football-ages 9-12, cheerleading-ages 5-12, T-ball-age 4, track and field-ages
7-14). Other sports associations sponsor baseball and/or softball*, including
Newnan YAA (formerly Pony League), Senoia Little League*, Sharpsburg

Recreational facilities in Newnan include 7 parks (Greenville Street, First Avenue, Temple Avenue, Cranford, C.J. Smith, Westgate, South Street), which collectively feature playground areas/equipment and benches. 2-acre Greenville Street Park, an urban park on the edge of the historic Greenville/LaGrange residential neighborhood, its commercial district, and within walking distance of downtown Newnan, features a 25 column colonnaded entrance, a terraced lawn area and stage that serves as a small amphitheatre, a water fountain, brick plazas, a covered pavilion, and numerous tables and chairs. 3.5-acre First Avenue Park, a passive recreational neighborhood park, features covered pavilions, grassy multi purpose fields, and a paved walkway trail system. 2.5 acre Temple Avenue Park, a passive community recreational park in the Temple Avenue residential district, features a small gazebo often reserved for weddings, a triangular water fountain, paved walking paths with benches, open grass areas for sitting and a Veteran's Memorial granite monument on the east side of the park. Cranford Park, a passive neighborhood park on Jackson Street, features brick and concrete walkways with benches. 12 acre C.J. Smith Park, a community park on Farmer Street with lower & upper sections divided by a steep wooded bank features (in the lower part) an adult size softball field which hosts Coweta County sponsored adult softball leagues, a paved 27 space parking lot, enclosed rest rooms, spectator bleachers, picnic tables, grills and trashcans; the upper half of the park houses the Coweta County African American Heritage Museum and Research Center. 6.2 acre Lynch Park, a neighborhood park on Wesley Street and Richard Allen Drive, houses the Wesley Street Gym, Duncan Street Pool, and Pickett Field, a large baseball and softball field. The park also features an open grassed field, a large covered pavilion, numerous large oak trees, picnic tables and grills for all types of gatherings. The Boys and Girls Club, across the street from the park, often uses the park for its daily activities. 1.8-acre Ray Park, a neighborhood park on Spring Street and Ray Circle, features tennis courts, open grassy areas and benches. Westgate Park offers a small neighborhood baseball/softball field, a fenced in playing field, bleachers, and a small concession building. 1/2 acre South Street Park features a picnic table and a small paved basketball court. Verona Rosser Center houses a community center and a fenced in playground area, located at the corner of Pinson and Savannah streets, which is leased to The Little People's Learning Center and available to the immediate local community.

Recreation facilities in Senoia include three parks connect by a walking path. Seavy Street Park features playgrounds, lighted tennis courts, and the Freeman Sasser Building, which is available for rent. Pylant Street Park offers walking trails. Recreation programs include city sponsored martial art classes at the Freeman-Sasser Building for children ages 7 & up. Senoia Area Little League sponsors baseball and softball. County-owned and/or operated facilities include East Coweta Senior Center, 300 Howard Rd, 770-683-8600, which offers a variety of recreational activities and services to all senior citizens aged 50 and older, including arts & crafts, bridge, cribbage classes, bingo, stamping & card making, covered dish luncheon, blood pressure check, musical entertainment and informational speakers, and is next to Senoia Community Center, 310 Howard Rd, 770-599-9823.
