Recreation facilities in Cobb County include the Al Bishop Softball Complex and 16 parks in Marietta, 5 parks in Kennesaw, 5 parks in Mableton, 2 parks in Acworth, Mud Creek Soccer Complex and 3 parks in Powder Springs and 2 parks in Smyrna. The facilities collectively feature concession buildings, playgrounds, picnic pavilions, softball & baseball fields, batting cages, tennis courts, soccer fields, walking trails, walking tracks, indoor & outdoor swimming pools, fishing ponds, sports fields (soccer, football, baseball, softball), basketball & multi-purpose courts, equestrian facilities, horseshoe pits and BMX racing tracks. Recreation programs include youth sports (softball, basketball, track, baseball, soccer, football), through volunteer groups that use Cobb facilities for practices and games. Adult Sports Leagues (softball, flag football, basketball, kickball), meet for practice/games at various parks and recreation centers; softball tournaments are also held at the Al Bishop Softball Complex. Four indoor aquatic centers open year-round (2 in Marietta, 1 each in Powder Springs and Austell) and 2 outdoor seasonal pools (1 each in Powder Springs and Marietta) offer swimming instruction, lifeguard training, water safety instruction and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification classes and recreational swimming. Both courses feature a clubhouse, snack bar, PGA pro shop, beverage cart service on course, complete practice facilities and PGA instruction. Legacy Links also offers a lighted driving range, while Cobblestone Golf Course features an outdoor pavilion, electric golf carts, and valet bag drop service. Cobb County's 6 Tennis Centers (3 in Marietta, 1 each in Acworth, Austell and Powder Springs) offer instruction, league and tournament play, and social round robins. In addition, tennis courts located throughout the county are available for free play on a first-come, first-serve basis (4 lighted tennis courts at each of 15 parks). Cobb Gymnastics Center, 542 Fairground St SE, 770-528-8475, in Marietta's Larry Bell Park, offers instructional programs for boys and girls ages 2 years through adult, as well as competitive gymnastics. Youngsters can participated in gymnastics and cheer classes, with sections for preschoolers only; adult tumbling and martial arts classes are also offered. Cobb County's five recreation centers (2 in Marietta, 2 in Powder Springs and 1 in Austell) feature gyms with basketball courts, meeting rooms and class rooms (available for rental) and offer a variety of classes and special events. Cobb County's Outdoor ("Natural Resources") program offers educational programs for all ages and features paved, soft surface, slate and natural surface trails for hiking, jogging and cycling at Silver Comet Trail (starting in Smyrna), East Cobb Park and Heritage Park Trails. The Therapeutic Recreation program, based at Thompson Park, 555 Nickajack Rd in Mableton, 770- 819-3215 provides recreational sports, dance, arts and crafts, day camps, travel, social club activities and special events for individuals ages 7 & up (ages for specific programs/activities varies) with developmental, mental and/or physical challenges. This program also encompasses Special Olympics, a year around program that offers 15 different sports including track and field, basketball, bowling, golf, swimming, tennis, volleyball, equestrian, table tennis, gymnastics, ice skating, roller skating, alpine skiing, bocce and power lifting (Special Olympics Cobb administers the Special Olympics program). Recreation facilities in Marietta include 18 neighborhood, community and small pocket parks, which collectively feature playgrounds, picnic tables/areas/pavilions, BBQ grills, landscaping, park benches, gazebos (including one that can accommodate weddings), softball fields (some lighted), tennis courts (some lighted), half/full basketball courts and walking tracks/trails. Several of the parks offer limited parking, 1 features swinging seats. Several parks have unique features: Merritt Park, 501 Wallace Rd, offers an ADA Accessible Jogging Trail; Henry Memorial Park 81 Reynolds St, provides restrooms. 45 acre A.L. Burruss Nature Park, 1485 S Cobb Pkwy and 28 acre Wildwood Park (next to Life University), 1050 Barclay Circle, feature hiking and/or jogging trails (neither site offers restrooms). Gantt Park, corner of Maple and Holland St, offers a doggie bag station and 6.7 acre Lewis Park, 475 Campbell St, features a dog park with a pet station with plastic bags. Monarch Park, Kennesaw Ave at Maple Ave, features a green-space and a butterfly garden. The Marietta School System operates 12.3 acre Hickory Hills Park, 400 Chestnut Hill Rd. Laurel Park, 151 Manning Rd, features a 1-mile track, ponds, sand volleyball court, open play field, fishing events, summer camp programs and tennis instruction at Allcourt Tennis Academy, which offers Junior Tennis Programs ranging from recreational play to highly competitive tournaments. Glover Park, 50 Park Square in Marietta Square, with shopping, restaurant, museums and theaters within walking distance, features a fountain and stage, and hosts concerts, festivals and weddings. Marietta's 2 recreation centers (Elizabeth Porter, 370 Montgomery St, 770-794-5637 & Lawrence Street, 510 Lawrence St, 770-794-5630) are both open from 10:30 AM-10:00 PM weekdays, feature gyms and offer a variety of family oriented activities, such as basketball, billiards, table tennis, foosball, table and board games. Porter Recreation Center also houses tennis courts; Lawrence Street Recreation Center also offers an outdoor, seasonal swimming pool. Both centers also host summer camp programs for children, which include field trips, active games & competitions, swimming and arts/crafts activities. The 7-acre Aviation Baseball/Softball Complex at 455 Aviation Rd, which is operated by Consolidated Sports of America, houses a lighted baseball field, concession stand and restrooms. Recreation facilities in Acworth include 10 parks, generally open from 7 AM-11 PM daily, which collectively feature playgrounds, open play areas, picnic/barbecue facilities, restrooms, parking and beaches. Cauble Park also features a boating ramp (electric motor driven boats), a boardwalk, volleyball net and rental facilities, including four pavilions, a lakeside gazebo, and a beach house. 1/4 acre Frana Brown Park contains a fountain and benches for relaxation. Logan Farm Park, a 50-acre passive park, houses a lighted walking track. a nature trail that connects to Cowan Road & Terrace Drive Park, a 1/2 acre fishing pond and a multipurpose recreational field. Logan Farm Park hosts the annual Family Fun Day in March and the Halloween Carnival in October. Newberry Park features baseball fields. 1 1/2 acre Overlook Park overlooks Lake Acworth and offers fishing and picnicking. Proctor Landing: 82-acre Proctor Landing, open from mid-April through mid-September, is located along the banks of Lake Allatoona and features group pavilions (available for rental Mon-Sat), volleyball courts, and horse shoe pits. 30-acre South Shore Park, on the south side of Lake Acworth, offers fishing areas. Tanyard Creek Park features open green space and a lighted community softball field (Amos Durr Community Field, available for rental for baseball and softball use). Future park plans include a multi-use trail. Terrace Drive Park: Terrace Drive Park is a neighborhood park featuring a walking trail, basketball court, and an open field. 42-acre Acworth Sports Complex, on South Main Street just south of downtown, divided by Proctor Creek, features baseball & football fields, practice areas, batting cages, restrooms, and concession stands. The complex houses the Acworth Baseball Association and the Acworth Football and Cheerleading Association. Annual Events include the APRD Football, Baseball and Softball Camps, the Acworth Baseball Association's Opening Day Celebration and the Acworth Football Association Homecoming. The Sports Complex is the future home of the Acworth Special Needs Field and accommodates players, ages 5-14 for baseball and 5-12 for football. Recreation programs include summer camp programs. Camp Acworth, based at the Acworth Beach House for up to 110 children ages 6-11, features eight, one week sessions from 9 AM-4 PM (extended 90-minute sessions before & after camp are available) and offers arts and crafts, hiking, canoeing, team sports, swimming, and Friday field trips. Middle School Camp, for ages 12-14, offers the same hours, location and activities as Camp Acworth, with Wednesday field trips and a community service project that the campers develop and follow through with during the eight weeks of camp. A variety of summer sports camps (baseball, football, softball and cheerleading) are offered as well. Sports camp programs to develop basic skills (soccer, t-ball, and basketball) are offered for preschoolers ages 3-4 throughout the year, and the department sponsors a baseball league for children ages of 5-21 with mental and physical disabilities, in partnership with the Special Needs Development Group, Inc. Special sports events include Fifth Grade Field Day at Acworth Elementary, a simulated day of summer camp with activities such as a water balloon toss, obstacle course, relay races, wiffleball, kickball and soccer; Pepsi Pitch, Hit and Run, a free baseball skills competition for ages 7-14 at the Acworth Sports Complex.; Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick, a free football skills competition for ages 8-15 at Acworth Elementary; and Jr. NBA/Junior WNBA Skills Challenge, an Olympic Skills Competition in basketball, soccer, and track & field. The Expanding Horizons program, in conjunction with the school district, provides under-privileged children with Saturday field trips monthly between December and May to various places in Georgia. The City of Kennesaw Parks & Recreation Department maintains and/or operates 23 recreation sites, which collectively feature ball fields, basketball courts, trails, playgrounds, pavilions, picnic tables, grills and benches. Adams Park, a 33-acre community park near the intersection of Watts Drive and US-41/Cobb Parkway, also features lighted baseball & softball fields, concession buildings, drinking fountains, shelters, batting cages, lighted tennis courts, lighted soccer field, and a 3000 ft x 8-foot-wide concrete trail. Adams Park houses 26,000 sq ft Ben Robertson Community Center and the Scout Hut building. 42 acre Swift-Cantrell Park, established in 2007, is Kennesaw's largest community park and features large, age-appropriate PowerScape Plus playground structures with climbers, swings, bridges and play events; and an Xscape System featuring circuits, walls, climbers and rings, lighted, asphalt trails, acres of open turf for passive recreation, and restroom buildings/drinking fountains. Future plans for the park include a recreation center/gymnasium, performing arts center, aquatic center, skate park, dog park, disc golf course and amphitheater. Both Adams and Swift-Cantrell Parks are Wi-Fi hotspots. Recreation programs include various areas, such as arts & crafts, fitness & health, general interest, performing arts and sports, including youth baseball, softball, football and soccer (league play organized and directed by a variety of private, non-profit athletic associations), and an adult co-ed softball league (fall & spring). Kennesaw's All-Star Summer Day Camp, located at the Ben Robertson Community Center, is offered for youth ages 5-12 and is open from 7:30 AM. to 6:00 PM M-F; activities include arts and crafts, sports, games, indoor & outdoor play and family friendly movies. Various sports (baseball, softball, soccer, tennis) and special interest (dance, cheerleading, gymnastics, jazz, theater, computer, video game design) camps are offered as well. Ben Robertson Community Center, which is available for rental, features a banquet hall that can accommodate theater-style seating for more than 250, and banquet-style seating for approximately 200, and a catering kitchen equipped with a microwave, ice machine, oven/stove, refrigerator, sink and counter space. The department sponsors city-wide special events throughout the year, which often include individuals, community groups and local businesses. County-owned and/or operated facilities

in Kennesaw include 2 parks (Big Shanty, and Noonday), which collectively offer youth sports (soccer, baseball, football) and feature baseball, soccer, and football/soccer game and practice fields; and concession buildings (one with a pressbox). Recreational facilities in Smyrna include 12 parks, which collectively feature baseball fields, soccer field, playgrounds/play equipment, tennis & basketball courts, volleyball courts (some with sand surface), grass play areas, picnic facilities and wooded areas. Legion Field Park/Ball Field, across from Brinkley Park, 1270 Hunter St, is used for Smyrna Little League Baseball. Brinkley Park, adjacent to the American Legion center, features batting cages, and houses a building featuring a small meeting room. Ward Park (Lattanzi Field, 3590 King Springs Rd, 770-431-2842, features a lighted baseball field with concession stand, programmed by the school district and mainly used for Campbell High varsity baseball games. Campbell Middle School Sports Complex on Atlanta Road, whose facilities are shared by contract with the city, features a multi purpose field, practice field, and paved running track. Privately managed18-hole Fox Creek Golf Course, 1501 Windy Hill Rd, 770-435-1000, features a clubhouse and driving range. The Senior Facility Complex, 884 Church St, houses a 6,700 square feet Aquatic Center, 770-319-5402, that features a heated indoor swimming pool and locker rooms; a Senior Citizen Center, 770-437-7892, connected by a paved covered walkway with benches to the Aquatic Center; and Senior Pavilion and Play Courts (horseshoes, shuffleboard and bocci), 770-801-5345, which offer a large picnic pavilion with fixed seating just above an ADA ramp for easy access to this wooded area. Smyrna Museum and Train Depot/Aunt Fanny's Cabin Welcome Center and Museum are both located at 2861 Atlanta Rd, just south of the new downtown area. A variety of classes and activities are held at the Smyrna community center. 26 acre Tolleson Park features a walking trail and pool. Ridge Forest Park, 3401 Atlanta Rd, is a passive community park featuring a walking trail and five exercise stations. Chuck Camp Park, presently under construction, offers open space and a walking trail. Burger Park, 680 Glendale Place, features off-leash dog park areas; with a portion for small dogs 30 lbs and smaller and another section for large dogs. 8.26 acres Spring Road Linear Park, parallel to Spring Road, is currently undeveloped. Mable House Arts Center features art gallery space (with The South Cobb Arts Alliance as the curator), that presents various exhibitions throughout the year, including the National Juried Exhibition and exhibits of artwork by area school children. The Arts Center also houses Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, open weekdays from 10:00-5:00 as well as evenings and weekend hours according to class and special event schedules.

Recreational and cultural facilities in Powder Springs include 243 acres of park & recreational facilities and conservation land.

Coach George E. Ford Center, now under renovation as a community center, houses a Reception Hall (available for rental for social occasions) as well as the Powder Springs Senior Citizens Center, which provides activities for senior adults, including meals, exercise classes, legal counseling, and field trips; and features a library, a game room, and a workshop with numerous power tools. Powder Springs offers a city-wide trail system, consisting of 3 trails (Silver Comet, Wildhorse and Lucille Creek) which connect neighborhoods, parks, commercial and employment centers, public facilities, the historic downtown area and the regional Silver Comet Trail. County-owned and/or operated facilities include Mud Creek Soccer Complex and 3 parks (Lost Mountain, Powder Springs and Wild Horse Creek), which collectively feature picnic pavilions, playgrounds, walking trails/tracks, baseball, softball & football/soccer fields, fishing ponds, and concession buildings and offer youth & adult sports (softball, soccer, basketball, football-youth only). Cobb County's five recreation centers (including 2 in Powder Springs: Anderson in Wild Horse Creek Park, 3820 Macedonia Rd, 770-439-3611, and Ward in Lost Mountain Park, 4845 Dallas Hwy, 770-528-8885) feature gyms with basketball courts, meeting rooms and class rooms (available for rental) and offer a variety of classes and special events. Cobb County's 6 Tennis Centers (including 1 in Lost Mountain Park in Powder Springs) offer instruction, league and tournament play, and social round robins. Four indoor aquatic centers open year-round (including West Cobb Aquatic Center, 3675 MacLand Rd, 770-222-6700 in Powder Springs) and 2 outdoor seasonal pools (including 1 in Powder Springs at Powder Springs Park, 3899 Brownsville Rd , 770-528-8890) offer swimming instruction, lifeguard training, water safety instruction and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification classes and recreational swimming. Lost Mountain Park also features batting cages and houses West Cobb Senior Center. Wild Horse Creek Park also features a BMX track, Equestrian facility, horseshoe pit and tennis courts and houses Ron Anderson Community Center. Paulding County facilities located in Powder Springs include Mt. Tabor Park, 1380 Pine Valley Rd, 770-222-3270 and Taylor Farm Park, 1550 E Paulding Dr, 770-505-3885; both feature Tot Lots, Playgrounds, Baseball Softball Fields, Soccer Fields, Lighted Tennis Courts, Soccer Fields, Gyms, Enclosed & Open Pavilions, Walking Trails, Lakes, Picnic Tables (some with grills) and Restrooms. Taylor Farm Park also houses a Pole Barn; Mt. Tabor Park also houses a Community Building that includes a Racquetball Court and Aerobics Room

Recreation facilities in Austell include 6 city-owned facilities; 4 neighborhood parks (Cheyenne, Pine Street, Stephens and Washington Street) and 2 community parks (Collar and Legion), that collectively feature lighted baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds and picnic areas. Sweetwater Valley Youth Association, along with the city, sponsors baseball leagues. Sweetwater also sponsors football and cheerleading. Berry Park, a neighborhood park, accommodates passive activities only.
