Cobb County Public Schools operates 109 schools covering grades PK-12, which serve 106,372 students in the communities of Acworth, Austell, Kennesaw, Mableton, Marietta, Powder Springs and Smyrna, and all unincorporated areas. 71 schools are elementary or intermediate level (PK-1, PK-2, PK-5, K-5, 1-5, 2-5, 3-5), 22 are middle schools (6-8) and 16 are high schools (9-12 or 10-12). Hillgrove High School, Lovinggood Middle School and McClure Middle School each encompass grades K-12. Student/teacher ratio is 15:1 (district-wide). The district employs 10,322 classroom teachers, 673 support personnel, and 576 administrators. 42% of teachers have a Bachelors Degree only, 48% have a Masters Degree. Per Pupil cost is $7,790. A variety of programs, services, and personnel are provided for Limited English Speaking (LEP), Gifted & Talented and Special Needs students. 8.4% of students are enrolled in the English to Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) program, 11.3% receive Special Education services, 11.2% are enrolled in Gifted Education programs. Support services for all students, as needed, include speech/language, tutoring and counseling.
