Carroll County Public Schools operates 22 schools covering grades PK-12, which serve 14,485 students in the communities of Bowdon, Carrollton, Mt Zion, Temple, Roopville, Villa Rica and Whitesburg, and any unincorporated areas. 12 schools are elementary level (PK-4 or PK-5), 5 are middle schools (5-8 or 6-8) and 5 are high schools (9-12). Mt Zion High School encompasses grades 6-12. Student/teacher ratio is 15:1 (district-wide). The district employs 1,014 classroom teachers, 103 support personnel, and 84 administrators. 46% of teachers have a Bachelors Degree only, 39% have a Masters Degree. Per Pupil cost is $7,476. A variety of programs, services, and personnel are provided for Limited English Speaking (LEP), Gifted & Talented and Special Needs students. 1% of students are enrolled in the English to Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) program, 13.5% receive Special Education services, 9.6% are enrolled in Gifted Education programs. Support services for all students, as needed, include speech/language, tutoring and counseling.
