Atlanta Public Schools operates 100 schools covering grades PK-12, which serve 49,773 students in the City of Atlanta. 61 schools are elementary level (PK-5 or K-5), 48 are middle schools (6-8), 15 are high schools (9-12), 4 are Freshmen Centers (9). Charles Drew Charter School and University Community Academy both take in grades K-8. Kipp Achieve Academy is for grades 5-7 and Kipp West Young Scholars Academy serves grades 5-8. Crim High School serves grades 8-12. Tech High Charter School takes in grades 9-10. APS-CEP Partnership School enrolls students in grades 6-11. Hillside Conant School encompasses grades K-12. 7 high schools offer small specialized or alternative programs. Student/teacher ratio is 14:1 (district-wide). The district employs 3,653 full-time classroom teachers 373 full-time support personnel, and 462 full-time administrators. 46% of teachers have a Bachelors Degree only, 42% have a Masters Degree. Per Pupil cost is $11,324. A variety of programs, services, and personnel are provided for Limited English Speaking (LEP) and Special Needs students. 2.7% of students are enrolled in the English to Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) program, 9.3% receive Special Education services, 8.5% are enrolled in Gifted Education programs. Support services for all students, as needed, include speech/language, tutoring and counseling.
