The City of Atlanta's Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs maintains and programs for hundreds of parks throughout the city, which collectively feature Playgrounds, Ball Fields, Outdoor Basketball Courts, Tennis Courts/Centers and Recreation Centers. Indoor Facilities at the Recreation Centers collectively include Arts & Crafts Rooms, Game Rooms, Kitchens, Gyms, Weight Rooms, Fitness Rooms or Centers, Multipurpose Rooms, Conference Rooms, Computer Labs, Racquetball Courts, Dance Rooms/Studios, Natatoriums, Restrooms. Outdoor Features include Picnic Areas, Playgrounds, Concession Areas, Tracks/Football Fields, Pavilions, Grills, Mezzanines and Swimming Pools. John A. White Golf Course, 1053 Cascade Circle SW, 404-756-1868, offers golf instruction for youth ages 7-17. Other golf courses include the 9-hole Candler Park Golf Course and 4 18-hole Courses. Oakland Recreation Center offers a Sauna and Grant Recreation Center houses a Therapy Pool and Massage Therapy Room. Snack Room. Adams Recreation Center features a Fishing Pond and Indoor Library. Adamsville Recreation Center houses a North Fulton Golf Course, Chastain Tennis Center, Chastain Horse Park, Chastain Art Gallery and an Arts & Crafts Center are adjacent to Chastain Recreation Center. Activities offered at the Recreation Centers include After-school programs (tutoring, homework help, sports, arts/crafts) for children, Arts & Crafts, Ceramics, Youth Football & Cheerleading, Aerobics, Weightlifting, Fitness & Wellness, Game Room, Computer Lab (classes & open use times), Open Gym, Yoga, Bunco, Co-ed Volleyball, Adult Free Time, Senior Exercise, Senior Activities, Senior Fitness, Golden Age Clubs, Bridge Clubs, Dance (Round, Square, Hip Hop, Chicago Step, African, Ballet, Tap, etc), Karate, Youth & Women's Basketball, Table Tennis, Goalball, Men's Softball, Swimming, Soccer in the Streets and ALTA Tennis. Collier Recreation Center offers Collier Seniors T.L.C.'s and a "Teens in Action" Club. Morningside Recreation Center offers Outdoor Games, Drama/Dance, Baton Twirling, Table Games, Movies and Special Events. Peachtree Hills Recreation Center sponsors a Playgroup. Bessie Branham Recreation Center's Senior Program includes Field Trips. Butler Park Recreation Center offers a Cooking Class (ages 6-12). Adamsville Recreation Center sponsors the Adamsville Swingers, Bid Whist Club, Youth Nature Crafts, Reading Hieroglyphics, Scrabble Club, Senior Table Games, Bridge Club & Exercise Class and Therapeutic Athletics. Ben Hill Recreation Center offers Atlanta Fire/Police Dept Play, Personal Trainer, Men's Basketball (age 35 & up) and a Cake Decorating Class. Dunbar Recreation Center sponsors an Adult Walking Class. J. F. Kennedy Recreation Center offers Youth Swim Lessons. Brownwood Recreation Center sponsors the East Atlanta Kids Club. Perkerson Recreation Center offers a Pageant/Talent Show, Splash Party, Teen Conference, Career Seminars and Golf Clinic. Programs and activities at A.D. Williams Recreation Center are operated through the Police Athletic League or PAL (404-799-2340). The department offers summer camp programs for youth ages 6-12 at parks throughout the city, including the general recreation program called Camp Best Friends and specialty camps offering Basketball, Boxing, Cheerleading/Dance, Golf, Sports and an overnight program at Lake Allatoona for ages 8-12. Six locations offer teen camp for ages 13-16 and Tennis Camp is open to ages 6-16. The Coan Traditional/Therapeutics program, at 1350 Woodbine Ave, 404-371-5008, serves ages 6-12. Therapeutic Recreation programs offered weekdays during the school year include Social Development, Cognitive Skill Development, Special Olympics, with locations at Cook Elementary School, Adamsville Recreation Center, Turner Middle School and East Lake Elementary School. Peachtree Hills Recreation Center sponsors Goalball from 9:30-1:30 on Saturdays. Dunbar and Morningside Recreation Centers offer a weekly after-school environmental education program. Southside Sports Complex, 3460 Jonseboro Rd SE, 404-361-4100, sponsors adult sports leagues.
